Tigershark_BAS 0 Posted March 16, 2004 Just wondering if any of the folks here do professional webdesign for a living? Been looking for some but no-one seems to reply to news posts on our site.
havocsquad 0 Posted March 16, 2004 Not much market for those people today. These days just about anyone can do good web sites if they find the right info resources and spend the time to read "How to do" books. If you have CGI, ASP, java, VB, or perl experience you might find some employment but it won't help much. The biggest demand now is people who specialize in internet E-Business, that includes web design, database integration, online transactions, customer service, and inventory. MikkoFin 0 Posted March 16, 2004 Actually Jazmon, our graph guy is a professional web designer, or he makes layouts etc. http://koti.mbnet.fi/~fdfmod/ and http://finnishplatoon.org/ layouts are his.

havocsquad 0 Posted March 16, 2004 Sorry for being a pessimist, but most info from the Information Systems area and most accurate reports about Web designers have suggested that web site designers and specialists is a field which is still too heavily oversaturated, and hard to determine whether an individual is qualified enough. Â Web Designers are also too easily subsituted by High level HTML, Java, and other editors now which don't require much actual "Coding" experience. Most in the Information Systems consider that field a "Black Hole" which even most Computer Science gurus won't touch. In a nutshell, good help is always hard to find. Â However, finding a good web designer is like playing Russian Roulette. (Excuse the spelling)
SpeedyDonkey 0 Posted March 16, 2004 "CGI, ASP, java, VB, per, pants, flash etc etc" Sure, coding in all its glory. But you've really got to consider his or her artistic talent as a Web designer
ebud 18 Posted March 16, 2004 hehe, I think all Tiger is looking for is someone to help with building a new site. As an ex webdesigner, that picture pretty much sums up the need for people with only web design experience. And I'm talking design, not coding.... 2 different animals. Sure, the jobs are out there, but most of those people are holding on to them with a death grip. Luckily I had a few years of traditional print studio exp under my belt so once the layoffs hit, it was easy to find a new job while many of my co-worker hit really hard times. Back on topic.
