MLF 0 Posted March 7, 2004 Never was a collector but i did enjoy playing with my mates SM and Tau army, but this game looks tight as Click Me Forums
Baphomet 0 Posted March 7, 2004 The screen grabs are "neat" I do recall fond memories of playing liberation 40k for the pc even though it got slammed way back in the day. However... I am -extremely- critical of real-time strategy games. They are all the same. It's always just clicking on unit which promptly runs up as close as they need to, in order to attack and perform the same animation or a predefined set of them at reglar intervals. like in warcraft *clink*, *clink*, *clink*, *clink*. Oh yes very cinematic. Really conveys the ambiance of battles... Now if each unit had it's own ai profile that adhered to and used a semblance of sensible and independant decisionmaking. It'd be a lot more impressive. However in the end. The only sorts of games I like which involve that sort of strategy are turn based games. Since OFP came out I find it extremely hard to tear myself away from it to play my old favorites. Like Jagged Alliance 2.
MLF 0 Posted March 7, 2004 although it wont be turn based i have seen on the forum that the majority of all relic team actually play 40k and they are implementing a pause function where you can then issue orders, but because of the above fact i think they will stick true to the Universe. DracoPaladore 0 Posted March 8, 2004 Relic has a very good game history in the past, especially with the two great Homeworld strategy series behind them. While they have good experiance with their excellent games, I am still however unsure wether or not this could work. The warhammer universe is complicated and large, and probobly very difficult to create. As well, I wonder how they will handle the often frequent changes in the table tob game into the computer game. norsu 180 Posted March 8, 2004 Looks nice, although I would like to see way more scratches etc. on those units. Orcs look way too cartoonish now IMO . But as a WH40K veteran (a nice Dark Angels army ) I'm probably going to by this game, it has that WH40K feeling.
sanctuary 19 Posted March 8, 2004 I remember when i was younger in a RPG convention (the "paper" things, not videogaming) , i discovered for the first time Warhammer Battle wargaming in a stand , there was a tournament running there. It seemed interesting, then later i heard about the 40K version of Warhammer , i was interested in making my way into this 40k universe by buying some units, but i discovered the awesome high prices , and i prefered to not invest so much money on those games. But on my PC i played Final Liberation , a very good Warhammer 40K title , it was very interesting (and simple in the same time for a beginner) I always dreamed of a modern game (as i was not very interested by Rites of War , and never found the retail version of the  "looking awesome" Chaos Gates demo ) , using this setup , and i hope that Dawn of War will be up to my hopes with the 3 races +1 not revealed yet and their units. Baphomet 0 Posted March 8, 2004 Quote[/b] ]But on my PC i played Final Liberation , a very good Warhammer 40K title , it was very interesting (and simple in the same time for a beginner) The same PC title I mentioned. Sans the "final" part. Yeah. The prices for those game pieces are a bit too prohibitive for all but the most fanatical. That game got panned by most mags but I found it to be quite entertaining. The screengrabs from a static perspective do look very ambient. It'll just remain to be seen how the game executes. Hopefully the RTS'ness won't break the illusion of battle. Gadger 0 Posted March 8, 2004 After playing the Total War series I cannot, quite simply, play any other RTS game.
Tamme 0 Posted March 8, 2004 I love Warhammer40k, but I don't have the time to spend the time to assemble and paint them (read: I'm too lazy). The screenshots look awesome, but I'm still sceptical about this. I really hope it's going to be something special though..
