Baphomet 0 Posted March 7, 2004 This one kind of reminds me of fallout for some reason. I think it's the dead grass and the dilapidated fence/house. Sort of like junktown. The idea that there were criminal groups skulking around in such a desolate place also adds to a fallout-like quality in a sense. The grey picture overlooking the city has a very powerful and eerie quality to it. I would imagine as the author says about the ability to drive around... it'd be a street racer's paradise if they had the stones to go there. Isn't it still dangerous to cruise around that area? I'd imagine even a bit of a drive would be taking a few years off your life if you did it enough. Still. I'd like to go there if the health risks weren't too steep. GoOB 0 Posted March 7, 2004 Also "hearing" the silence there must be awesome but creepy indeed. I've heard the silence in the heart of Manhattan. I have heard "complete" silence aswell but never in a place that is usually populated by humans, or a place were sound is usually ample. And the silence I have "heard" is a good silence, the one that calms you down (the far north of Sweden). The silence in that town must be creepy indeed. I was waiting for the surviving mutants to push their way to the street surface through the Con Edison manhole covers, burried beneath the snow. It was indeed like something out of a sci-fi movie. hellfish6 7 Posted March 7, 2004 Quote[/b] ]there are lot of domestic animals live in the woods, they got wild and assimilated with other animals that live in this area, such as wolfs, wild boars and deers When I first read this I thought "MUTANTS!". Very moving site. I think I would like to go there. I've always had a fascination with abandoned civilizations, and this is about as modern an abandonment as you can get. IceFire 0 Posted March 12, 2004 Can anyone find an alternative link to that site? The link is now dead.
Pipski 0 Posted March 12, 2004 If you can find the relevant thread in the SA forums (under GBS iirc) I think a couple of people mirrored it on their sites in case it went down. Happy huntin'!
