robbo 0 Posted March 6, 2004 Well for those of you who don't know what the Nomad Mod is about, i'll give you a quick introduction. Our Mod is to bring the story of the Soviet-Afghan war of the 1980s into OFP, through both addons and missions. We've been around for a while but we haven't been able to release much because we simply don't have the team members required to work on our projects, so if you can help out please give me an email at n_robertson@iprimus.com.au We need you! Anyway I've got some new pictures of Cat's Afghan Island, which has been worked on tirelessly by MadAussie, as Cat doesn't have the time due to college. Pictures Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 Pic 4 Pic 5 Pic 6 Pic 7 Pic 8 Pic 9 Pic 10 Pic 11 Pic 12 Pic 13 Pic 14 We'll be working with a few teams and their objects on this project. Including; The 3rd World Explosion Team, Remo who is currently making an Afghan island of his own, which is looking amazing, BAS who have allowed us to use their objects in the Final Afghan island release and finally MadAussie Productions, which is helping to bring co-operation between many Middle Eastern region based Mods and teams and is releasing quite a few another nice things! Anyway thats our update for now, I'll hopefully have more to show sometime next week And our website hasn't been updated a while, i'll try and update it over the next few days. @cero 0 Posted March 6, 2004 That's an excelent news Robbo. Nice to see some progress. Ace was working in a MIG, is this still going? @CERO.
One 0 Posted March 6, 2004 if you guys are any smart, you'd agree with me if you said the mod is half done, units wise  look at all the great 80's russian stuff you already have to use. im not trying to dis or flame you guys, cause its a pretty good idea, just dont waste time building soviet stuff, cause theres tons of that stuff around. hows the progress on the afgan units? can we play as Osama
Billabong81 0 Posted March 6, 2004 Yeah...RHS can basically cover you guys for USSR units. But I really want to see some high-quality Taliban/Northern Alliance/whatever they were in the 1980's units. We can still use them for present day stuff, such as a War on Terror campaign
cornhelium 0 Posted March 6, 2004 Hey robbo, great to hear the the Nomad mod is still progressing. It's the best new's I've heard in ages. I love the current (v3) version of the island. It feels like another planet, and the cave objects are really nice. I tend to agree with One and hooahman on the Russian units. UCE-JAM and ORCS packs for men, RHS and Desert OFP for vehicles, VIT APC pack for both (sorry I've probably forgotten some other great Russkies). Mujahadeen and Afghan Army units would rule, as would 2002 units for Pathan (Taliban),Tajik/Uzbek (Northern Alliance) and Hazara forces. Here's a good site I found on the Soviet/Afghan war: http://www.bdg.minsk.by/cegi/N2/Afg/Waraf.htm Cheers, Cornhelium
Acecombat 0 Posted March 6, 2004 No cero i ditched that model , because robo-01 our former modeller made a even better then mine but then he sort of disappeared and the mod never heard from him but i guess its useless for me to make a Mig or anything since FDF has a wonderful Mig-21 anyway my modelling skill is pathetic The Nomad Mod still is in dire need of members who can model/texture so plz guys help them , i would love to see a afghan mod , the addons that will need to be made are some old soviet armour and cars plus a old Hind (A class) and some aircrafts plus some good mujas and the island is all set thats all that this Mod needs to go up. Most of the soviet stuff is already present in OFP it'l only need to be tinkered with though. robbo you got some muja pics for us to see ? I remember the old ones drillseargent made any progress on those?
thirtyg 0 Posted March 7, 2004 Thanks for the update Robbo. V3 is myfavourite desert map, by the looks of it this new map with BAS objects will become my favourite when released
robbo 0 Posted April 30, 2004 Unfortunately some bad news regarding the Nomad Mod Nomad Mod announcement
miles teg 1 Posted April 30, 2004 Robbo. I think merging Nomad with MAD isn't a bad idea if both teams can agree on some goals and priorities. Remo is like a one man mod team and has always done his own thing, but as long as he's communicating with others in MAD it should be ok. Personally I'd like to see Remo update his North Korean stuff or to make some of his addons stand-alone addons such as his BM-21 MRLS, and his SA-6 and SA-2 SAMS (mobile and stationary) as well as his cool radar stations. They just need updating. I remember him telling me that he fixed up the BM-21. He also has been very cool about allowing the Lost Brothers to use and fix up some of his stuff. I'm trying to figure out how to make disappearing missiles on his SAMs for example. At any rate, the Lost Brothers is also now cooperating with MAD as well as other Middle East mod teams becuase we also are a very very small mod team. You might consider not so much shutting down Nomad, but rather keep it alive, and just tell members to consult with MAD and the other Middle East Mod teams if they run into problems. Anyhoo...personally I hope you don't shut it down. You never know when you may find yourself with a little free time and suddenly have the energy and time to really work on stuff. That's how I am...I work in these intense spurts when I'm not busy with real life stuff. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
robbo 0 Posted May 1, 2004 Quote[/b] ]You might consider not so much shutting down Nomad, but rather keep it alive, and just tell members to consult with MAD and the other Middle East Mod teams if they run into problems. The problem is I've had no communication with the team in the last 3 weeks since my computer was stuffed, and before that I was extremely busy with real life. When my computer crashed I lost all team information and simply I think its time the mod started with a clean slate with a new leader. There isn't really a team to instruct at the moment anyway, because I just haven't had the time or circumstances have prevented me from comunicating on a regular basis the team has collapsed, but there hasn't really been anyone else who had the time to lead much either. I really don't want to see the Mod die, but I need a break from it while I complete exams and other school related tests, if nothing is happening in a few weeks i'll come back and hopefully re-establish the team, the goals of the mod and co-operaton, but right now I just simply don't have the time.
