Just saw on ofp.info there is a beta released of a Stuka.

Yay, cant wait to get home.

Hope the diving siren works nicely !

Are there plans for a new pilot at some point or are you guys going to be using one of the existing German pilots already made?

the DW42 stuka has lots of new stuff on the action menu, let me explain.

WEP: makes the plane go much faster but drains lots of fuel

Dive: kinda explains it all;) gives u a really nice sound to wink_o.gif

Drop fuel tank: drops the fuel tank so the plane goes a litlle bit faster

This is still in beta so we are open to suggestions such as tankbusting etc, as far as the  siren goes, i think it is audible in MP but wouldn't be 100% sure.

The dive script is far from complete and may be totally replaced before the final, whatever works best.

And yes, good old IL-2 is for sure...that has provided much inspiration/textures for this plane, it's nice to have a stuka in OFP and once we optimize the plane, it should be great to fly.

the plane is nice. few problems

armour issue... its invincable crazy_o.gif i can shoot it down. but only if i kill the pilot (which isnt hard to do) unless i use another stucka then the explosion from the gun helps. upon further testing by putting one on the ground.. me with a 12ga shotgun (lsc shotgun) i fired over 100 buckshots into it. using this test. the only hit points are the propeller, the tail, and the wheel wells. other then that the bullets go right thru it. but i am able to kill the pilot.. and firing on those only hit points. repeatedly. over and over agian until i had no ammo left to fire.. using machine guns and rifels and such. i get in as pilot... armour- 100% crazy_o.gif

divebrake/siren. nice touch. thou the propeler on the left side wheel brace disapperes leaving only the right one still attached and spinnning. on the ground bter both there but once i get into the air it seems to disappere. i havnt been able to figure out when exactly it disapperes thou.

i'll have a look at it's hitpoints, i haven't put much work into that section really, just the fire geometry is used currently.

since it's still beta all problems mentioned will be fixed.

the mini propellor for the siren only exists on one side, as in the original, the pic above has it on the opposite side i think.

this propellor is wind activated/basically over 20mph i think, maybe 10 it starts spinning...if you look closely you will see it. biggrin_o.gif

Notes;

Fuselage is a bit short

Cockbit is funny, need to either lengthen it a foot <ju87B2>,

or taper it down in the rear by 6-8 inches <Ju87D and later>

But still nice looking, some final releases don't have this much polish.

(on Anti-tank versions, I think I still have my JU87G2 I was working on, the plane is total crap but the gunpods are pretty solid, although untextured, if ya want 'em lemme know)

(also have lot's of tech info ready to hand on them)

Addendum <followup>

7.9 cannons? 8mm Mgs do not a cannon make, reduce the firepower a bit

Bombload, whilst late war models could stagger aloft with 1 3000lb bomb, I doubt any Stuka carried 3 1000lbr's,

typical loadout was 1 1000lb on centerline and 4 110lb on wing hardpoints.

rear seat should face aft <backwards> he was a tailgunner, not a tourist smile_o.gif

I think this addon is beautiful. However I just hope that the AI will be able to use the siren as a trigger or automatically. That 200 meter limit is silly as the AI hardly ever attack from 200 meters and I usually would not be piloting this aircraft (as I'd usually be playing the Allied side in most missions).

So I hope that the siren will be fixed in this regard.

Aside from that I think this addon rocks....

Great addon, love the cockpit, however the AI tends to destroy itself everytime it bombs a target. Can you increase the attack height?
