Us presidential election 2004

Recommended Posts

But the fact your ex and probably future group in power is making the world a worse place (even for you us citizen)  is not something we don't care.

Well, honestly I dont see anything first hand how the world is becoming a worse place(and I doubt you are, first hand that is) or how Kerry or anyone else could have made it a "better" one.

Edit: But these is commin' from a ignorant country fok

New Mexico, Colorado, and Ohio all look like they'll go for Bush.

By my calculations, if Bush wins these states, then he's truly locked in for a second term.

What's exactly so shitty about that?

Should people somehow be more reserved and restrainted?

Please explain in detail...

I would love to explain in detail. I am just too excited right now to think straight.

Listen, I'm capable of articulate intelectual arguments as any intelligent person.

Us Bush supporters are just hugely excited right now. I am bouncing off the walls.

Arrrrrrg..... my countrymen are idiots. I run into people EVERY day like the dude in Maryland here in Texas. Every day I talk to my fellow college students here in Texas who are Bush supporters and everyday I hear them give me responses about why they support Bush that are based purely on emotions and not on what Bush has actually done over the past 4 years. When we sit down and talk they generally agree with me when I talk about the war in Iraq and about economic issues...yet they say they will still vote for Bush because Bush makes them feel more secure and they don't want to change horses in the middle of a war.

Some also feel that voting for Kerry would be giving Al-Qaeda a message that they are winning...

Its very frustrating. When I ask them to define a liberal it gets even more frustrating as they have this imaginary sense of what "liberals" are and what "liberals" stand for. They don't seem to want to believe me when I tell them that most "libearls" don't believe what Republicans say they believe in. In essence they believe in this grossly exaggerated view of what liberals are in order to better demonize them...just as the Republican party would like them to believe.

I too would love to hear how liberals in Maryland make him sick...

But it doesn't matter as he probably doesn't care because he already has his mind made up as do most of the conservatives I've talked to here in Texas. Its like talking to a brick wall.

Arabs are evil....Muslims are evil.... Christians are good...conservatives are good, liberals are evil... Bush is good....Kerry is evil and is a terrorist lover...

Bush = Muslim/Terrorist killer/global ass-kicker who will bitch slap anyone who stands in America's way and will secure our fucking oil for our SUV's and to hell with pussy liberal/commie Euro-trash.

I don't believe that stuff (I'm a liberal) bt you see its all so simple when you look at the world that way.

Really?  Ok why do you support Bush?   Lets here some intellectual reasoning for supporting Bush.  Lay it down. Or is this like the superbowl or the NBA championship for you...just a big sports event?

I did support the war and supported Bush until about a year ago. But then since it has become apparent that the war planned and conducted badly, yeah in spring 2003 I was surprised that only 125,000+ troops were deployed when you needed 500,000 in 1991. There was not enought troops to secure big country like Iraq and prevent escalating looting and lawlessness which is still felt echoing today by rising insurgency. Once you create the atmosphere it's hard to crank the attitude back to respect the law. Policing and law enforcement were crushed although there were basic elements which should have been retained. Needless to say the war was also rushed, what was the hurry? Plenty of pacifying, searching and securing to do in Afganistan. Needless to say no WMDs were found but I supported the war for bringing down Saddam not for those ridiculous powerpoint presentations that were just used to sell the war to public. And they still cling on those claims, that's plain laughable.

On domestic front the budget deficit is really bad, Clinton left economy in great condition basically. You can't blame some minor recession or dotcom crash for losing trillions of dollars. What was the reason for cutting taxes during the war?

Why Bush claims Canadian medical supplies are somehow dangerous? Why there are more unemployed people in the US?

How can stand for capital punishment while blocking stem cell research? Why Bin Laden family was flown away from US no questions asked on 9/11? Why Iran and NK are basically building their arsenal while US is doing nothing?

The list goes on. But there are just some reasons why I would not vote for Bush. Could somebody argue these issues and provide some rationality on why to vote for Bush?

Well my buddies in Iraq from my old Army Reserve unit are seeing "FIRST HAND" how Bush's policies are going to hell in Iraq. Please tell them why they can't "rebuild Iraq's infrastructure" because gee-wiz those damn ignorant Iraqis don't seem to understand the concept of freedom and democracy and instead prefer to shoot RPG's at them and detonate IED's everytime they take a drive in their neighborhoods. Please go teach the Iraqis freedom and democracy. I'm sure if you kill enough of them they'll understand.

Shit dude, go get on an arab chat room and find some Middle Easterners who speak English. You'll find real quick what they think of our so called "spreading of Freedom and Democracy" in the Middle East.

The only ones who seem to support such ideas are those who are secular and in the academic elite of the Middle East.

You're average Joe/Mohammed in the Middle East thinks Americasm are the biggest hypocrits in the world and I don't think we can kill enough of them to bash into their skulls our American values. At least not in the way we're doing it now.

Where do you hear this? I'm not that far away and I never hear things like that. There are obviously a few idiots here and there(most comming from Texas tounge_o.gif) but untill recently most of the people I have talked to didnt know who they were going to vote for. They really didn't like the way Bush was headed but didn't trust Kerry. Kerry is seen as a flip floper in Oklahoma, not a liberal terrorist loving tree hugger. I guess ultimatly they voted for Bush because Oklahoma gave him 7 EC votes, but my point is the majority of the people I have talked to said they didnt know who they wanted to vote for.

There is nothing wrong with having an SUV.  mad_o.gif

Edit: I have 2 cousins and an uncle over there now. They have been saying it isnt as bad as the media is making it out. Now, I have 2 contradicting stories, one saying Iraq is a terrible place right now, the other saying it is bad but is getting better. I dont have any first hand knowledge of what it is really like so I cant give an opinion on it and neither can people who arent there(obvioulsy my opinion).

Amen Blake!!! Its good to hear some conservatives who can actually think rationally and think for themselves rather then just fall for all the fear-mongoring.

For those Americans here on this forum, remember no matter who wins the election, that does not mean our civic responsibilities as citizens end. We need to ride our politicians asses to insure that they serve the people and not the other way around.
