Akira 0 Posted November 2, 2004 CBS just mentioned that Bush was ahead in Kentucky something like 56%. No big surprise, but I guess they stopped short of calling it his until the polls officially close.
IsthatyouJohnWayne 0 Posted November 2, 2004 May i respectfully and humbly suggest (as another foreigner) that everybody now shut the heck up unless they have something specific to say about the presidential election (details etc similar to denoirs posting of the fox report) and not fill this thread with useless banter much better covered in the War on Terror and Iraq threads? (yes i belatedly explained somewhat tangentially why i was personally hoping Bush didnt win here but that was before i realised the full potential of this thread to fill rapidly with such unimportant dross)
Blake 0 Posted November 2, 2004 LOL Peter Snow is reporting on BBC World about the election. He's the guy in the 'Battlefield Britain' battle documentary series...how appropriate edit: Sorry for offtopic...
FSPilot 0 Posted November 3, 2004 MSNBC says that Bush is ahead by 10% and I think 31 EC votes.
denoir 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Current calls: Bush: 34 (IN,KY,GA) Â (the one that FOX suspiciously called 30 minutes before the polls closed) Kerry: 3 (VT) The really interesting one in the batch that should come soon is Virginia with 13 electoral votes. It has been leaning Bush-wise, but within the statistical error. It should be noted though that in all polls so far Virginia has been Bush country (although not strong). So it's unlikely that Kerry will take it unless the polls so far were way off.
Akira 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Quote[/b] ]BREAKING NEWSCNN projections indicate Republicans pick up a Senate seat in Georgia and Democrats defend one in Indiana and one in Vermont. On CNN. They also have Bush 34 and Kerry 3.
denoir 0 Posted November 3, 2004 BBC references to AP saying that initial results show voter turnout up 9% from the 2k elections. Edit: FOX says "Virginia and South Carolina were too close to call at 7:05 p.m. EST." Does anybody know how their system works? Is it based on exit-polls only or do they wait for a prelimiary count? Edit 2: West Virginia to Bush. Previous polls showed an 8 point lead to him, so it's no surprise. Bush: 39 Kerry:
Akira 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Quote[/b] ]"Virginia and South Carolina were too close to call at 7:05 p.m. EST." We all know what happened last time they said that

Blake 0 Posted November 3, 2004 There are people still queing to cast votes in Ohio, that's delaying the closing of the polls?
Akira 0 Posted November 3, 2004 There are people still queing to cast votes in Ohio, that's delaying the closing of the polls? A legal action was taken, and judges ordered the polls of Ohio to stay open later.
Winters 1 Posted November 3, 2004 they may have a later closing time, some states had polls open at 6AM, here in FL they opened at 7. *edit - nevermind it was already answered
Akira 0 Posted November 3, 2004 they may have a later closing time, some states had polls open at 6AM, here in FL they opened at 7. Refer to last post. Judges ordered polls to stay open later (not sure why), they normally would have closed already. EDIT: I see YOUR edit EDIT: I just saw that ELECTION officials have kept some of the polls open due to extremely high turn out. They also said some polls in West Virginia and Florida are also staying open later.
Acecombat 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Things looking grim for kerry ? I dont like those opinion polls that show support by americans for BUSH on: a)War on Terrorism b)War in Iraq Kerry only has an edge on: c)Economy But all the democratic senators so far interviewed from CNN to BBC are so confident they are saying Kerry is the president
denoir 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Those in Scandinavia that have access to TV4, turn it on. There's an interesting documentary on religion in the US and how it affects politics. Quite interesting.
Akira 0 Posted November 3, 2004 CBS reported that Bush is ahead in Ohio 52% to 48% with NO polls fully reporting. Also Rather went off on a slight rant saying "some of you may be saying the lines are so long and I'm tired so I'll go home. We have men in Iraq and Afghanistan and if they can do what they do you can get off your duff and vote."
Akira 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Either way it goes, I'm really glad that people feel galvanized enough to actually go out and vote with these huge turnouts.

Pathy 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Cmon son!!!! Ive just been speaking to an American on MSN who told me that while Bush made some mistakes over 4 years in office, kerry has ALREADY made more mistakes....i then pointed out that supporting gay marriage is hardly the same as going to an illegitimate war that has possibly killed up to 100'000 civilians....the response to which was "they were all terrorists anyway"......
