Schoeler 0 Posted February 12, 2004 Yeah, I worked in a trauma ward for about six months back in 2000. @m21man, I'll send you a pm of what we are going to be doing as soon as one of our members returns from vacation.

MSpencer 0 Posted February 12, 2004 I could help out a bit, but not as much modelling/skinning as intel on other cultures (still not my forte). I admire the invitation Shoeler, but I don't think I can help much.

Taconic 0 Posted February 12, 2004 I don't have much to say other than that I think that this is an excellent idea. I've been kicking around ideas for an island for quite a while, but I have neither the time nor the talent to make the kind of statics that I'd like to see in it. For people like me (or anybody that doesn't have a team of 4 guys to model and texture things for them,) this is a great idea. Stick with it. I think that you'll find it to be quite popular once you have some stuff to offer.
Blink Dog 0 Posted February 13, 2004 Here is the other project I am working on, they are Hex edited versions of the Panelak buildings in O.pbo More like the origional but I made the exterior look cracked and darker. This one would work better in a place like Somalia. I changed the outer panels to look really old. The Interiors of these buildings have changed as well, the textures look stained and there are some bullet holes and such. You will notice the curtains have been changed too look dirtier and torn. Schoeler 0 Posted February 13, 2004 What are you using to make the dirty textures? I've been using the burn tool, but it isn't all that great. Also, if you want some tan brick or sandstone textures, I have dozens. Could go better with a Somali themed building. Tomorrow I'll get ahold of you and show you some of the building concepts I've thrown together. They aren't too much different than what you've shown here. Blink Dog 0 Posted February 13, 2004 If you have photoshop here is how I do it: I created a new file with a transparent background and called it smokey. I made it very large, 72dpi. Using the brush tool I made the opacity 50% or less and reduced the flow. when you cover the canvas you should still see the checked transperant background. When you save the file save the layers or else it will no longer be transperant, and remember not to flatten and save as a tga. Now with this file you can simply using the cloning tool apply to your texture and adjust the flow and opacity to less than 100% this will ad a tint to your texture. This sort of thing can be done with mud, blast marks, bullet holes, scratches and cracks. I used crack and blast tga transperants from MOHAA for alot of these. I can send U and Ag smith (I do owe him) these textures via MSN as the file sizes are huge.

Schoeler 0 Posted February 26, 2004 Some upcoming plants for you all: Feel free to use the textures yourself, remember we are non-proprietary. P3D's are being made for each right now and a nursery release will be scheduled soon. Also, our texture library will be up and running in a short period of time. I'll add each type of texture to the FTP server in a zip for download as soon as they are sorted and catalogued.

Schoeler 0 Posted February 27, 2004 Our website is up! 3WX Home Page Well, sort of up anyways, not all the links work and its just interim until we get a more professional site designer. Â Edit: Our forum is now up and running, join up and give us a hand, or just tell us what you think!
Guest major gandhi Posted February 27, 2004 I think the main problem will not be to create reasonable objects and textures for a third world like island but to create the essential atmosphere. Especially in the citys but also in the villages the life takes place outside on the street, the market or the field. For instance I really like Tonal, concerning the visual qualitiy of the island but it's totally unrealistic driving through empty citys. Although you may say that during a battle civilians may hide somewhere, just watch BHD. Â Â What is necessary, is in my opninion a script or something that generates simliar to GTA people, cars and perhaps some chicken or other animals on the street. Morover these should only walk on the side of the street. BTW: If I finished my recent project (NH90), i may create houses and stuff used for an embassy, I think this quite usefull if you want to simulate an intervention of the americans or another nation. m21man 0 Posted February 27, 2004 3WX creates the textures and objects, mission creators get to place the civvies.

IIRC Colnel_Klink created some good-looking embassy, but it was never really finished... (I'm not sure why, it was lacking textures or something???) Maybe you could talk to him and finish it? Just a suggestion...
drow 0 Posted February 27, 2004 Sorry to sound like a dick, but I was shocked by how poor quality most of those bush etc. textures on your site are... If I supply a good amount of Better quality textures can you guys model them into bushes and stuff for me? (Of course everyone else could use them too in this instance, add them to your library along with anything else we can cooperate on, I can make ground textures and such as well) I need bushes for the island but cannot model myself. I have the design skills to create these textures, but I cannot make them into 3d bush modells.
Schoeler 0 Posted February 27, 2004 Well, dude, I don't know what you are used to, but those textures are far more detailed than the bushes in OFP right now. If you've got better textures that I can make an alpha channel for, send them and I'll make you the models. Here are two in game screenshots: Note the colors aren't dull like a lot of the other vegetation in OFP, but are vibrant and bright like real tropical plants. Most other bushes in OFP are too dark and washed out looking.
cornhelium 0 Posted February 28, 2004 Hey - I know that plant! They have a bunch of them in the city Botanical Gardens and they're heeuge! The modelling and colour is spot on as far as I can see
Schoeler 0 Posted February 28, 2004 I just found this lovely tropical tree texture and have gotten a new model made. Tell me what you think:
