edc 0 Posted January 19, 2004 Are you in safe mode? Â In some versions of windows(not sure if it does this for all), it will safe Safe Mode in the four corners of the Desktop. If you've installed anything like drivers, or updates, or maybe any programs, you might try uninstalling them, and going back the the previous version that you had in the case of drivers. If you have XP you could use system restore to go back the an earlier time. If you hadn't installed anything in the last time you had your computer on, you could just try rebooting, you could just be in safe mode because you accidently pressed a key in the boot screen(Its usually CTRL I think). IceFire 0 Posted January 19, 2004 No no, I think I am in normal mode. It just won't go back to the way it was.

Tex -USMC- 0 Posted February 5, 2004 Have you tried doing the exact same thing you did last time?
IceFire 0 Posted February 5, 2004 I tried and I can't figure it out.
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted February 5, 2004 there are three possibilities, so far as I see it: 1. you're in safe mode. 2. you somehow managed to uninstall your display drivers, and you're stuck with regular SVGA as-is. 3. you've got the same font problem as before. IceFire 0 Posted February 5, 2004 I think it's number 3. I think it's the same problem. Somehow the settings got changed. This is how it started. I was in the middle of an Americas Army game playing on the collapse tunnel map. I alt tabbed out to look at websites while I was dead. Then when I heard the "your team has been eliminated" voice I clicked on the game in the task bar to get back in. Then the screen goes all white. I try to hit escape and it doesn't let me escape. So I hit the off button on my computer and turn it back on. When it turns on all the fonts are big. Also initially the screen was all black and white with a button on it that said "return to normal screeen" I hit the button and my screen returned normal except that all my icons are still big. This is kinda how it got messed up the first time too.

JAP 2 Posted February 5, 2004 Icefire, Going further on the discription you gave i can only imagine it s your VGA card driver that s giving you problems. Reinstall your driver and you should be able to select a higher resolution. The font option is only affected in internet explorer itself when you changed that it can be found in internet explorer => i think screen ( sry dunno how it s in an english version ) it s the 3rd menu from the left => fontsize => set to normal But if it s that, it can t affect your desktop. What Windows are you running and what VGA card ( graphic card ) are you using ? Is easier to direct you to a download for the correct file to reinstall your graphic card. Hope this helps ... Cheers
crashdome 3 Posted February 5, 2004 You mentioned Alt-tabbing.... Sometimes, and I dont now why, but some games will not correctly return the desktop back to the proper resolution upon switching tasks. This is because they did not expect the program to be switched mid-game perhaps? In any case, they restore your desktop resolution when exiting the game properly. My suggestion is that if alt-tabbing causes the issue... simply dont do it anymore in that game.

Try to raise your resolution again (make sure your color depth is not set too high) and if that doesn't work, start up AA, pick a higher resolution for the game, and then exit... see if you can get AA to trick your computer to return to the proper desktop size...
