I'd imagine you would need two modems, and two seperate phone lines, whether this can be done artifically with a peice of hardware I don't know, but I doubt it. I would also imagine ISP's have security against this, as it would allow for serious abuse of the system, i.e. House A pays for a 512k connection, but House B next door pays nothing, but taps into the connection and gets a free connection. Baron von Beer 0 Posted January 18, 2004 not a question of 2 ISPs, so much as 2 data lines. (You would of course need ISP service for both flows though) In theory, it could be done. If DSL, you would need 2 seperate phone lines, and could in theory, have DSL on each line. (Each with a seperate DSL modem. You say DSL running through cable, but think that is a mistake. AFAIK, DSL is over phone lines, Cable is well, cable. I don't believe you could have 2 "connections" over your cable, as it is a single line, single company, etc. You could ask them for a higher bandwidth service (Say 3mb instead of 1.5mb) which is the same end result of 2 seperate connections, except a lot less hassle. (Both comps on the same router, single service bill, etc., and usually cheaper than 2 like bandwidth accounts.) For DSL, you could also check for a higher bandwidth package and likely save some cash as a result. (Since you would be paying for bandwidth only, not 2 seperate "ISPs, (IP adress, e-mail account and webspace, etc.) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Hmm I seriously doubt its possible. Did exactly this with my former roomate (we split the cost f a DSL conection, none of us noticed any derease of speed when the other one was on). I m selling routers for about 100 - 250 €, so you should be able to find a more known brand with dual Wan ports for less then 200€, i mean, i have VPN routers for about 150€ ... that s cheap.
