jaenak 0 Posted December 17, 2003 When you play one of the single missions you see first a pic of that particular mission. My question is how do you get a pic of the mission to put in the overview file of a custom mission in the first place? I don't want to copy a pic of another mission but I don't know how to get my own either.
Skul 0 Posted December 17, 2003 Go into Paint, change the dimensions to around the following: Length: 512 Height:128 (Recommended) OR Length: 128 Height:64 Now take a screenshot while playing (or use cameras) and paste it into the paint file and move it around until what you want is in the frame. Be sure to select No when asked if you want the bitmap resized. Then put it into your overview and it should work. jaenak 0 Posted December 18, 2003 How exactly do you take a screenshot?
Skul 0 Posted December 18, 2003 Press the Print Screen button above the Page Up and Page Down keys. It should be there. [Gareth Gates must die]
MrZig 0 Posted December 18, 2003 Nope, that aint the way. You press "Alt - F4" at the same time.
Skul 0 Posted December 18, 2003 Er....yeah, that's the way! [Gareth Gates must die]
m21man 0 Posted December 18, 2003 Quote[/b] ]You press "Alt - F4" at the same time. You get a pic with Print Screen, Alt-Tab out of OFP, and paste into a pic program.
jaenak 0 Posted December 18, 2003 Okay, how do you get the targetting reticule to disappear though?
m21man 0 Posted December 18, 2003 You can turn off crosshairs/reticules in your difficulty settings .
jaenak 0 Posted December 18, 2003 Alright. One more problem though. Every time I paste the screenshot, it turns really dark when OFP isn't running since the program cranks up the brightness when it starts. How do I get it to look normal versus pasting daytime pics that look like twilight?
toadeater 0 Posted December 18, 2003 Alright. Â One more problem though. Â Every time I paste the screenshot, it turns really dark when OFP isn't running since the program cranks up the brightness when it starts. Â How do I get it to look normal versus pasting daytime pics that look like twilight? Call Bill Gates and tell him to fix the Windows GUI. Not much you can do besides fix the brightness and contrast in Photoshop, etc.
Skul 0 Posted December 18, 2003 Try turning the brightness up before you take a picture. That's what I do. Helps a little. [Gareth Gates must die]
jaenak 0 Posted December 18, 2003 I ain't got photoshop. All I have is the genaric paint program that comes with windows. And you crank up the brightness in the game it's self in the options menu right?
jaenak 0 Posted December 18, 2003 I tried cranking up the brightness and the gamma something or other in the game all the way. Â It does help some but it's still really bad. There isn't an external program that could take screenshots without this problem is there? Â How does everyone else get their screenshots to look normal? BTW, thanks everyone for helping me with my problem so far! Â This thank you section of my README file is going to take a while! (Hey, is there any rule against me putting two posts back to back like this?)
Skul 0 Posted December 18, 2003 Probably not. I've heard there's a screenshot taker, but I haven't tried it out myself. Look on opflash.org for it in the downloads section. I think it's there. [Gareth Gates must die]
jaenak 0 Posted December 19, 2003 Okay, tried it, don't recommend it whatsoever. Its no different than pressing Print Screen. I'd like to email someone that has successfully taken screenshots and ask them how the hell they've kept them from being so dark. I'd have to search the web to find someone as this isn't something I make a mental note of as I surf. The only problem I have anymore that's keeping me from completing my mission pic is the darkness. Skul 0 Posted December 19, 2003 The only problem I have anymore that's keeping me from completing my mission pic is the darkness. The Darkness? What, that new band? Â [Gareth Gates must die]
shadow 6 Posted December 19, 2003 The only problem I have anymore that's keeping me from completing my mission pic is the darkness. If you look in OFP's graphics-options you'll see the gamma-slider. It is probably set to around 1.5 or similar. Your windows gamma is set to 1 unless you have changed it (doubtful). Set the gamma-slider in-game to 1. Then what you see in-game is what you'll get when you take a screenshot. Just a little pointer to let you know beforehand what you get before you go to a image-editing program. Allmost everyone is using gamma 1.0 in windows (default). Paintshop pro and Photoshop Elements are two programs that lets you resize and adjust brightness. I'm sure there are many others aswell. @Skul: if you don't have something useful to contribute with, then don't.
Winters 1 Posted December 19, 2003 Jaenak, try FRAPS its great for taking screenies in game and you can click away without having to paste anything. you can grab it here: FRAPS And best of all its FREE!!!
MrZig 0 Posted December 19, 2003 Fraps 2.0 isn't free, but all that's new in it is the nice video capping.
jaenak 0 Posted December 19, 2003 I recently PMed theavonlady. For all practical purposes she said that the gamma setting was the problem and the eaiest way to fix that would be to just go ahead and take the screenshot and not worry about how dark it is. Then download a program off the internet that would let me change the gamma setting. I downloaded a trial version of a program called Ulead Photo Impact XL. It let me adjust the contrast, brightness and the gamma setting. Now the pictures look just fine. Be sure that I am recording names to stick into my thank you section of the README I'm making. Thanks guys!
