The large, delta-winged SR-71 gets is performance from the unusual J-58 engines, that act at as ramjets at high altitude and speed. It was related to the the YF-12 fighter and its precessor, the A-12 CIA-operated spy aircraft. Recently, the a number of SR-71s was put back in service from a premature retirement. Major Gripe 0 Posted December 9, 2003 With a plane as costly and secretive as the SR-71 you have to ask yourself would it really be deployed to a tiny island in the middle of nowhere like Nogova? ozanzac 0 Posted December 11, 2003 Bah, no point in making one of them for this game. Pointless. I'd rather a U-2 before this and I'd rather ALOT of other stuff before a U-2 anyway. Besides, what good's a SR-71 when you could have a YF-12! Basiclly the same bird but with A-A capability. Only four made though, killed off because of a belief it might threaten the XB-70 Valrkyrie project.
