Lt_Damage 0 Posted October 14, 2003 No issues until BAS island was introduced, MAJOR instability occurred on a normally stable box. Service constantly crashed until the box eventually died. Only happened on BAS island missions. Will have to get it restarted tomorrow and tell you what BAS Island is coming off within 2 minutes of the server being up. benu 1 Posted October 14, 2003 I have no such issues, but i use a linux server and the bas_opcpp.pbo with the fixes from killswitch. You should give that one a try (or wait for an official fix). Did you try other "bigger" islands to see if your server can handle those at all?
hoz 0 Posted October 14, 2003 Just an update... I also found this crashing was only happening with the BAS island. One user didn't have the island addons, and the other user had a mission loaded with the new map. Also to note, only the server crashed, no crash on the client end. Guest jacobaby Posted October 14, 2003 There is another thread with these details and others in, mods, can they be combined or one closed? TJ
Adammo 0 Posted October 14, 2003 Let me start by saying I love the BAS addons and use them all of the time.. I think it would really help us trouble shoot whic BAS addons are cauing the issue if they would make them PBO independant of other required addons. Example. Addon 1 needs addon2 to run but addon 2 needs addon 3 to run and so on. If BAS can make their addons independant of each other it would really help in trouble shooting these issues. It would also help in getting the correct addons to the users that need to join. I'm running into issues where addon 1 needs addon 2 but the server have addon1 and addon2 but addon2 version is different version then the one on the server etc. I have completely removed the island I1 and I2 addons but use the rest that came with the island.. once I removed these two files it resolved some of my issues. Lt_Damage 0 Posted October 14, 2003 The server is an AMD 2400+ with 1GB RAM, ASUS A7V8X motherboard with a WD RAPTOR 10KRPM 36GB drive. It runs everything else perfectly.
bigdog632 0 Posted October 15, 2003 if everyone had the addons and everyone had the 1.92 or above it ran flawlessly as soon as someone joined and was ejected for wrong addons the server got the red square of death then restarted i believe this is a xeon 3 gig with 2 gigs of ram and whatever else i dont know we reverted to 1.92 and problem solved the client side 1.94 patch runs fine
suma 8 Posted October 15, 2003 I am convinced we already know what is causing this "crash on disconnect / kick" bug. It is very likely we will provide a fix, but I do not know when. It is no longer necessary to send us crash files from this particular situation. Thank you for reporting this.
suma 8 Posted October 15, 2003 1.94 hotfix is available in this Flashnews topic.
