Damage Inc 0 Posted December 21, 2001 Easy, I'll make a mission with 100+ units and blow them up with satchels
Charlie_McSheenie 1 Posted December 21, 2001 the most i got (on a campaign mission, i don't cheat by using the editor ) was: 2 bmps 1 T-72 1 T-80 1 Shilka 41 assorted soldiers and 1 UAZ i remember that mission well, i remember thinking ''f**k me, how'd i get out of that alive'' i was very lucky on that mission at one point i was hiding under a bush with a T-80 over my head  luckily i had a satchel. which is the same thing that happened to the T-72 and my last satchel was used on this shilka hidden on the beach during that time i nicked a rpg and wiped out two bmps's  it was that mission, ''incursion'' i think its called, where you have to nick the documents
Casto 0 Posted December 21, 2001 easy put all units on careless shoot them up. but it still took you 55 min, your weak.

Charlie_McSheenie 1 Posted December 21, 2001 i've never actually tried playing anything in vet mode i'd appreciate if we didn't make fun of people who only play cadet mode. well done Tor!!
amos m 0 Posted December 21, 2001 I've started playing in vet mode alot since playing online and wanting to get used to the mode I'm forced into. I don't see any difference other than the obvious option differences. Does it even actually change ai difficulty? I thought that by the way you do it in the editor that it wouldn't, unless they have a script for it. PS. I figured a way to change the vet difficulty choices. Bit of a bug. If you want to change one, you gotta click on the one below it in the cadet side. Then just click on an empty part of the screen (well I clicked on the area below the lists anyway). Not sure if anyone really wants to know this, but anyway.... (Edited by amos m at 12:45 am on Dec. 22, 2001)

I wanted to verify that cadet mode is the reason why he got so many points but didn;t get gold stars.
Charlie_McSheenie 1 Posted December 21, 2001 we all now know what you think about cadet players don't even try and wriggle out of it
Damage Inc 0 Posted December 21, 2001 I really can't tell the difference between Cadet and Veteran mode. I sometimes play in Veteran mode because the editor has Veteran on by default and there's no way to change it (AFAIK) other than exiting the editor, playing a mission in Cadet mode and starting the editor again and that takes too much time. Hidden 0 Posted December 21, 2001 You can´t tell the difference? Go to the menu and turn everything off, in vet mode. Then you get what I see when I play OFP. You will have no crosshair, no clock indicator. It gets a lot harder than cadet (and more interesting). I never make fun of people playing in cadet mode, though. I have played OFP since 2 days before the official release in Europe, retail of course. Now I enjoy Red Hammer, an incredible good campaign, still in vet mode. Something that REALLY makes my heart go boom-boom-boom: Putting a satchel under an enemy tank, like Ruskie said, get up on the opposite side when the turret points another direction, run like the wind and blow the tank up when you get at a minimum safe distance. While running, you can hear the turret spinning, aiming at you.. really scary! Hidden (Edited by Hidden at 4:06 pm on Dec. 21, 2001)

Tor 0 Posted December 21, 2001 Yes, Avonlady, I play in cadet mode. I don't think that it is easier than playing in veteran, except navigating. I have also played in veteran some times. The reason I reverted to cadet is because I find it more realistic!! YES. In real life your field of view is not limited to straight forward, you feel, see and sense what happens besides you. I think that the cadet mode options helps regain that lost sense.
Charlie_McSheenie 1 Posted December 21, 2001 i use the cadet mode cos its much better. you're in mid firefight, you're killing ruskies, some bmps are attacking you. do you really want to search your sodding map for grid square Ea 62?
Hidden 0 Posted December 21, 2001 No need to check the map when the trouble starts, just go by the noise *G* I have to brag just a little bit, the Tank Rescue mission was easy but fun. Check my stats. Hidden
kegetys 2 Posted December 21, 2001 I love ofp in multiplayer with veteran skill, with all the aids turned off (3rd person, crosshair, etc.) and when playing real teamplay style where you obey your commander like you are supposed to its like real war
KingBeast 0 Posted December 21, 2001 Yeah Veteran mode is the best for a multiplayer coop mission, but when it comes to single player campaign, i think that Cadet mode is just fine.

That way, even if they get me, I'll still take them down with me. But I have also immediately detonated the charges with the vehicle on top of me, usually if it is manouevering and likely to crush me.
SpaceAlex 0 Posted December 21, 2001 Veteran mode is the best. I played in cadet mode for a few weeks, but when i tried the Veteran mode i have never gone back to cadet again. Anyway. About your scores Tor. I can easily get so much scores in a tank.
