philcommando 0 Posted August 15, 2003 Sea play extension proposal: ---------------------------- I am not sure if ofp2 will support water features but one way to get round this in ofp1 is:- 1. Create a flat face 64m X 64m in 0.00 LOD at 0 axis( no need for texture) 2. copy and paste this face in RoadwayLOD. Name the selection. 3. In LandContact LOD, place 4 vertices on 0 axis. 4. No need for other LODs 5. Config it as building/static object. 6. Ingame place this object over water. 7. Ingame soldiers will be able to walk on this face/platform with half/3 quarters their body underwater and will not die. ( seemingly swimming breastroke with the head above water perhaps?) 8. User controlled planes will be able to land on this water with more platforms.( wheels can replace with floatation rigs easily in 02 at 0.00LOD) 9. Ai controlled planes will be able to land on it if the platform is binarised, place in wrpedit and config with runway heading locations. Why this possible:- 1. Noticed that whatever addon u create starting at 0axis in 02, it will sink at least 1 to 2 metres into the water ingame? Therefore, if u have a base/platform created at 0axis, any object will interact with the platform and will not sink down into the water and die. I know this is not the best method, but any other simpler ideas? So who's gonna be the first to introduce an amphibian plane into ofp1? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

DaSquade 0 Posted August 15, 2003 Hmmm, i was more dreaming of a "universal float addon" like that came with Martins MTY Bell47G CoastGuard light helicopter. (Nice work anyway) But then for humans. Activating it when a unit is above water or landing parachute in water and (some how) let the unit float (head and arms above water level). It would bee great if we also could animate a  lifesaving jacket and maybee a small floating survival pack. Then water rescue missions would bee possible. It is a shame my scripting knowhow is poor. A long with that usefull glider of  21vbGlider and a mission (sea king) rescue heli, we shouldn't bee scared too land in ofps oceans when your plane got shot down.  Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Imshi-Yallah:- nope.LOL!, my addons are not that great anyway, good only for an afternoon's boredom while waiting for the great addonmakers to complete their addons. No one will want them. Thanks for the thought anyway. DaSquade:- scripts are another way, but it could get unweldly. I figured my way would be simplest as it is just a face easily created in 02, anyone could do it and implement it into their own ofp folder, until something better comes along. I experimented with lifejacket, config it like the bino as weapon but unfortunately weapon class does not float. When config it as a vehicle class, it was good but unrealistic as u have to 'getin vehicle' on land - lifejackets placed on the beach waiting for soldiers? Since when did that happened??? waffendennis 0 Posted August 16, 2003 Do this and you can finish your Swim Ideas PC : 1: Make A Swiming Animation 2: Work your Idea out 3: Make a script like: If Player is in water and he walks 5 meters in it then the script exec's the Swimming animation 4: The only thing you need to do is to test around with Philcommando's idea and place evry thing right and you have it working and you can swim then and see the Soldier really swim.
