Starburn 0 Posted July 26, 2003 I know I really shouldn't mention FADE in these forums, but this is the only place I can really ask this question, How do you know if FADE is active? It sounds daft yes but, I wanted to test my map (with two players) on multiplayer so I opened two OpFp's (task switching) and tried it out... once going into the server hosted by the other that was running in the background, I recieved the message "Fade doesn't activate on original copies!" or something thus I assumed it had kicked in... Ive uninstalled the game, but I assume its left something in the registry now  I can't find anything though. Which is quite annoying considering I do own the original game, but I fear when I re-install it... I will have fade active Thanks.
Starburn 0 Posted July 26, 2003 Im just wondering, now that ive re-installed - how do I know if its active or not?
Placebo 29 Posted July 26, 2003 I did the same thing once too, had Opf running twice and played an MP game with myself, never received a FADE warning though. I would imagine you'll be fine, just play the game as normal and look out for any of the FADE side effects, if you do a search on the forum you should be able to find threads giving a bit more info about what those are

iNeo 0 Posted July 26, 2003 I have joined my own game a few times too, the way you did, never any problems. The message "Remember: Original games do not fade" is shown when two players connect with the same ID, but it doesn't activate FADE. It's a warning to those that use cracked cd-keys and therefore have same ID's. So you don't have to worry
Black Knight 0 Posted July 26, 2003 Here is my experience with fade (I think) There are 2 people in my house that play ofp, my brother and me. Once I got Internet, we wanted to play ofp online. Everything was fine when we joined the server, no messages or anything. After about 2-10min. of playing fade would kick in! Now there was a lot of crazy stuff happening, it would seem like we are invisible and just observing the battle. (btw Bis should add this as a feature for clan matches - “Observer mode†) We couldn’t kill anyone and no one could kill us. We had no idea what was causing this since we both had our own copies of OFP. Btw we both play Resistance and we're on a router. We later found out that when he was reinstalling OFP he used my OFP CD by accident but used his own OFP: R CD…. So he had to reinstall again using his own OFP CD. I know some guys who used to play LAN all using the same install ID, and they got that message each time they played...and they reckon they got the symptoms of FADE - inaccurate weapons, enemies need more hit to kill etc.
BoonieRat 0 Posted July 28, 2003 I used to think the M60's inaccuracy was a result of FADE (which is a pisser cause I own legit copies of OPF&R). Does everyone else 'suffer' from innacurate M60 fire when using the ironsights? The PK is fine, so I'm wondering which point of the ironsight is the 'zero' on the M60? Using the tip of the front~blade does'nt work like it does with the AK & PK...

Using the tip of the front~blade does'nt work like it does with the AK & PK... The M60 is for me the hardest weapon to use with iron sight in a distance (but in semi close combat it is not the same thing and the M60 is deadly) even the PK is not as hard to use Here is how i use it to put enemy down picture from 1024*768 ingame , i go prone and put the sight exactly like this After 2-3 controlled burst fire from this position , 90% of the time the enemy is dead.
