IntruderDZ 1 Posted July 18, 2003 Can any BIS member confirm or dismiss a possible way for people to turn off fog or increase thier visibility in a game with fog . Maybe tweaking a video card setting or some modified files, if so dont disclose how it would be done. Just want to know.
Placebo 29 Posted July 18, 2003 View distance? If so not really a cheat, as such.
benu 1 Posted July 18, 2003 It is possible to turn off fog completely.
iNeo 0 Posted July 18, 2003 In MP the view distance is set by the server. That was all I wanted to say, I don't know anything about cheats.

bonko the sane 2 Posted July 19, 2003 What u can turn off is clodlets...but that doesnt stop fog only smoke and explosions
ale2999 0 Posted July 19, 2003 I dont know but once I read about some tweaking in the video drivers that could lead to no fog, it was on this forum I think and there were ss
Harnu 0 Posted July 19, 2003 For some reason if I set my viewdistance over 1500 I realllly start to drop in FPS.  And I have a good system  If you remove all fog and see the entire island, isn't that going to basically kill your computer?
thepo 0 Posted July 19, 2003 as cheating with ofp u can do pretty much everything you can do with a script...you cant make people globaltalk though it will only show on yer own computer.
Major Fubar 0 Posted July 19, 2003 There is a way to cheat with fog - I read about it on the OGn forums, but I can't remember the specifics...something to do with editing a setting file which allows the user to either dismiss fog and/or increase view distance...I looked for the thread so I could quote it, but no luck...maybe Lt Damage or someone could repost it here... [edit: found it, here. Don't click here if you don't wanna read about this cheat! you have been warned!]
iNeo 0 Posted July 19, 2003 [edit: found it, here. Don't click here if you don't wanna read about this cheat! you have been warned!] Quick, edit and remove, I think you aren't allowed to post links to cheat stuff. Obvisouly you can remove fog.
benu 1 Posted July 19, 2003 I don't want to give instructions HOW to do it, but you can turn off fog completely, it's real easy. You can alter viewdistance. You can do other stuff like adding zoom to weapons which normally don't have one.
RaptoR-Swe 0 Posted July 19, 2003 benu  thats why Checkfiles is up on most servers right to be able to altern a weapon  (scope n bla bla bla) u gotta change the .pbo file    if u have changed something it will be shown in the checkfiles...   but i would i perosnaly want in the checkfiles  is for the server owner in his log.   se whats been changed in like a   "x uses modifieled g36a.pbo"  etc (as in have firerate been changed scope ammonition) thats a question to Suma    is there any chanse to make the checkfiles more advansed as in  show exactly which files that have been corrupted?       and  can u make a checkfiles that havent got language probs.  as in  russian  bla bla bla maybe this should be in its own tread..    but my answer to benu is   checkfiles should bring that up if u have done anything with ur weapons

benu 1 Posted July 19, 2003 Raptor: i just did it on my server. I modified a g36 (no recoil, zoom) and went on my server. I even checked with #debug checkfile. The modification is not noticable. But that's old news. Same with fog and viewdistance when the mapnames contains spaces (as in the official naming convention).
RaptoR-Swe 0 Posted July 19, 2003 benu: im sure if u have added that the dedicated server will check g36a.pbo it will show for sure man im pretty sure at that
