Black Knight 0 Posted July 18, 2003 That’s crazy, you guys should read some of the stuff on that forum. I'm actually thinking of giving it a shot for a week or two just so I can tell someone that I am a Jedi
Major Gripe 0 Posted July 18, 2003 I think this is a continuation of the obstinate idiots that put down Jedi Knight as their religion in the 2001 UK census. Look here. Apparently there are 390,000 followers in the UK!

Apparently there are 390,000 followers in the UK! Â And in Australia as well. Hehehehe I thought it was a fun idea, so I did it. Apparently if it reaches a certain level of participation in a census then it had to be recognised officially as a religion. Good ol' wholesome ****ing with the system

FSPilot 0 Posted July 18, 2003 I'm trying to have a little fun with the mods when they change my user title. They put it as FS W. Pilot, so I put GWB on a pilot's helmet. They put it as "Comical Ali", so I put Jacques Chirac for my avatar. Then one of the mods (rather nicely I might add) changed it to "Solitarius Advocatus" and recommended I put a hippy on a soapbox. I think it worked out pretty well
Skul 0 Posted July 18, 2003 Hmmm....I see.... I liked the old one better... So what you think about this weird cult of jedis? [Gareth Gates must die]

Crazysheep 1 Posted July 18, 2003 I think it was a joke; if you got enough people to put their religion as jedi, then it becomes a real religion.
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted July 18, 2003 Hey, the second I can do that Jedi Mind-Trick thing I'm going to start putting down the Force as my religion of choice.

Sorry to burst your bubble Leone and Crazysheep but it didn't matter how many people put down Jedi it is not recognised as an official religion!! Regarde-ici, s'il vous plait! John C Flett 0 Posted July 19, 2003 As Major Gripe said there was no truth in the idea that it would be recognised if enough people put it down. Damn silly idea anyway. One wonders what it would consist of anyway. Speaking as a practising Pagan, somebody who has a hard enough time with official recognition, I at least follow certain practices. What do these self proclaimed Jedi do? If they try to improve themselves and champion justice in keeping with the ideas of the films then fair enough. But you know most of them just watch too much sci-fi. Perhaps they should just class sci-fi as their religion. That would make more sense.
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted July 19, 2003 A bit offtopic, but if you have an XBox and the slightest interest in playing an awesome game, go out and buy Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic right now. I've spent 21 of the last 48 hours playing it, and I almost don't feel guilty about it. Seriously, this is the best Star Wars product since Return of the Jedi, at least in my opinion. Great stuff. Or wait for the PC version. Whichever- so long as you play it eventually.
Supah 0 Posted July 19, 2003 Dont "religious" groups get tax exemption in the US or do they need to be recognized by some official body? If any one can start a religion and stop paying tax for life i am all for it

Tex you are my new best friend  Today was payday, I been waiting for this game. It got awsome reviews so I will likely buy it today ;) I think I really only have to say one thing to get Star Wars fans to go check this one out: You get your own Wookie. There you go. Ah, screw it, here I go. This game has unbelievable depth- it feels more like Star Wars than the last two movies combined. The voice-acting is some of the best I've ever heard, and the characters have depth- from the suspicious Republic soldier you have as a sidekick from the start, to the crotchety old hermit-Jedi you meet along the way, and even the psycopathic protocol/assassin droid you pick up. And you also get your own Millenium Falcon- yeah, it's called the Ebon Hawk, but the inside is almost 100% the Millenium Falcon. I was even able to recognize the room where Han and Leia make out in The Empire Strikes Back (and I'm not even all that big a fan- at least not anymore). You get to defend against Sith fighters while the hyperspace coordinates are plotted- and of course you can go over to the Dark Side if you so desire. And the gameplay is perfect- the under the hood turn based system makes for incredible lightsaber battles and fits the game's feel to a tee. And the quests... I'm only 21 hours in, and I've gotten involved in what seems like a hundred of the things. And they range from a Romeo/Juliet type situation to a (few) murder investigations, to stealing prototype engine technology, to helping out Jawas, and figuring out what to do about a disturbingly large shark. I don't have time to even come close to listing all the stuff about this game that makes it great, but I'll just add one more thing: Jedi Mind Tricks. Oh yeah.
