bonko the sane 2 Posted June 12, 2003 just dloaded it and it is very good,but i did find 1 bug,I was scouting in a BAS 250 bike,went for a swim in one of those cool lakes and I didnt drown... i crossed the whole lake underwater (some 200 m),so i stopped the bike,dismounted,and then i did drown ,apart from that its all good,congrats for an excellent island. miles teg 1 Posted June 12, 2003 I agree! First rate island... and an airport runway that actually works!!! I've been really disappointed with other maps that have really cool looking airports only to find out that the AI couldn't take off on the runways without veering off into the hills and hitting trees. The only bad thing though is that they have hills positioned near the runway which the AI often smack into if they turn left instead of right after take-off. Also... there is not much on the Red Chinese section. Finally at the military academy, the wall surrounding it is incomplete. It only surrounds part of the academy. The rest is open. I wish they enclosed the whole thing in order to make it easier to defend and more difficult to attack. However I did love how they had the obstacle coarse objects at the academy and even a RUNNING TRACK!! That is very cool. I'll have to figure out if there's any way to make the AI run around the track. Also I'm not quite sure what they mean by "animations". The files in that folder look like demo missions or just intros for when you are at the main menu. They also require the ROC MOD to work. Last time I tried downloading the ROC mod it was missing a bunch of addons that I couldn't find. Does anyone know if they ever fixed that up? I might give their mod another chance if their latest version is fixed up and isn't missing a bunch of stuff that I have to translate Chinese to find. At any rate, overall it's a fantastic island and makes me want to download their entire mod in order to make usage of this beautiful island. They're island anim cutscenes for when you return back to the main menu. I need to tell you a funny truth, one of the animation intro is one of my secret missions, it is the "\twkm_anims\intro1.twkm" one. The mission is a military training exercise demo, and you will see the soldiers fighting hard but see no anyone dead. And I will add this mission in my new campaign later, of cause for this island. I can make all kind of weapons and units for my mod, but I am short of skill to make the others. So I always asked permissions from others who can make air and amour pack. I will try to make some if I have more time, because I always think the campaign is the most important part for helping the community of FANs, not just addons. Cheers. I just got finished downloading the whole thing and I'm about to try it out on your new island. Oh... I also wanted to add, that Footmunch's Mig-21 would be a good addon to retexture as a Chinese Mig. His SU-27 in his aircraft pack would also be good for retexturing. You might ask him if you could reskin those two models if you have time to work on that. But if not that's ok. I can just pretend that the Russian red star is Chinese. Both are great models and fly very nicely. At any rate, I hope you and your MOD team continue to keep up the excellent work. I'm off to go try out the full ROC mod. miles teg 1 Posted June 12, 2003 I just tried out the entire mod and was very impressed. The only thing I didn't like was that there is no Chinese face pack in this mod. All the ROC and PLA soldiers look like Americans and Russians. Anyhow... sorry to go off-topic, but I encourage anyone who hasn't tried the ROC mod to download the mod addons (ROC 2.0 and ROC 2.0 upgrade). They are very nicely made and go really well with this island. I really hope that these units are upgraded soon to include Chinese faces as a seperate .pbo file but with the units scripted (in the .cpp file) to already have the faces on them at least for vehicle and aircraft crew members. Once you graduate boot camp/military school, you can pick a career in the Army, Marines, Airborne or Special Forces. They all have their own mini-campaigns if you pass the qualification tests. Great! Sorry that I cannot be of more help as I can only use  the toys and tools that others create, not make them my self. The island looks great! He's on the recent North Korean mod thread on this section of the forum. On his mod he has permanent Korean faces on his North Korean soldiers and they look great! (Really mean looking tough guys!). The BOH mod team also recently released a .pbo file that attaches permanent Japanese faces to their JSDF troops. So you could also ask them. Both Remo and the guys from the BOH mod team seem like very nice people so I'm sure they'll help you on that. Oh... also.... one thing that's missing from your ROC and PLA soldiers.... snipers. By the way your ROC HALO troops are INCREDIBLE!!! I wish BAS or one of the other mod groups would make American Special Forces HALO soldiers like yours. Any chance you might texture the HALO soldiers as a seperate American HALO addon using regular BIS weapons? I know it wouldn't be part of the ROC, but it would be perfect for U.S. Special Forces HALO missions from a B52 bomber (used sometimes for extremely high altitude HALO drops). If you go to my mission page on my sig, you might try my HALO mission. It doesn't need any addons and it gives you a good example of a HALO script. If you like, I could convert this mission to use your ROC/PLA MOD and you'd be welcome to add it to your next ROC campaign. Keep up the awesome work!!! miles teg 1 Posted June 13, 2003 If I remember correctly this was from specialized B52's during the Vietnam War. But it was a long time ago when I read that somewhere. I just tried to find confirmation of that and couldn't so it may have just been someone's story. All the info on HALO drops that I could find during the Vietnam era were apparently from C130's. I haven't looked yet, but if the objects are not anywhere in the map editor, then the only other way would be to de-PBO the addon and figure out what the names of the objects are and then placing them in the mission.sqm manually (takes some trial and error). Or you could ask Andy very nicely to please include them in the "empty-Objects" section of the map editor in his next update to the island (if he updates it). But yeah I think it would be nice to have the new buildings and objects available in the editor.
