CoolCarlos2002 2 Posted April 24, 2003 Would be really great to see an option to change camo (Woodland, desert, arctic, etc..) Which would just require addon makers to make more then 1 texture
MP Studio 0 Posted April 24, 2003 I dont want to shake you out of your dreams but how should that be possible???
CoolCarlos2002 2 Posted April 24, 2003 i think it could be done now, like bas did with the armpatch change texture, only thing is the texture has to be in your mission folder. the set texture thing
Gummi 0 Posted April 25, 2003 this is a great idea... to just define some stuff in the config and then its done. Addons wont have to have all camos, just the more camos u provide the more camos the mission editors can choose from. This will make many things way more simple. ZIKAN 0 Posted April 25, 2003 Good idea, but lets take it a step further. What about the ability to change into a dead enemy soldiers uniform while in game? Or even steal some civilian clothing while trying to escape from a pursuing enemy? In some of the missions I wanted to make, they involved playing a guy who has to change into civillian clothing so he could operate in a town which had the enemy looking for him at checkpoints and road blocks. ralphwiggum 6 Posted June 22, 2003 my thoughts. since there are multinational forces addons made, how about an uniform scheme? a basic BIS soldier would wear whatever camo texture it wears, but if users want to, they can have something similar to our current customface, except for the whole uniform. so when clans have match, each clan can choose its uniform and use it. on the otherhand, if some cheater deletes player info, the basic BIS camo will still be there to work as camo. maybe BIS can go a step further and have XML definition made for clans. a clan can have one JPG/PAA file to use for their uniform, and by referecing it, can save bandwidth problem of downlading eveyone else's camo. maybe this can be done by adding a LOD? that is textured upon some file choice? edc 0 Posted June 22, 2003 SOunds like a good idea. Â In addition, maybe other elements could be selected. Â Like maybe helmet/hat type, shoes, and maybe some other things too. But instead of using the init field, it'd be nice to just have select boxes, like there is now for side, unit type, etc.
SpeedyDonkey 0 Posted June 22, 2003 Lets take a look at söldner's way of solving this! The number of combinations or unique looks on your soldier is over 60.000!" Quote[/b] ]Söldner allows you to customize your characters. For the first time you can look cool without being limited to ready made full body skins. You can pick your helmet, face, jacket, trousers, boots, add some extras like sunglasses, tattoos, or backpacks and ready is your soldierWe planned our soldiers in a way to divide them into parts, each which can be picked by the player - within a few limits. First you can pick your head, your face. We offer plenty of choices from realistic ones, SWAT, foreign, up to "cool" looking ones. Quote[/b] ]"The "gear"Now you can pick your helmet, or hat. Not all headgear is protective, some just look cool. Also you can add protective gear to your character like kneecaps, and other gear like belts, pouches, backpacks and a variety of eye wear." . Quote[/b] ]"The camouflageNow the cool part: you can pick the camouflage your uniform has. Söldner will supply a couple of camouflages but you can also pick any image you find on your hard disk which Söldner will convert into his camouflage system. On Clan servers this camouflage can only be set by commanders (upcoming feature: TCM) and is distributed along with each team members UCS settings to clients connecting on this server - automatically. The picture below shows the same character with two camouflage settings. Changing your settings in Söldner is only a mouse click away Quote[/b] ]Regarding clans: you can register clan tags which makes them unique. If you control the clan tag you are the only one who can assign it to other players. This way NO one can fake being in a clan he doesn't belong to! Registered clan tags are marked in front of your name like [MiM], unregistered are marked with (TsT). Once a tag has been registered no one can use it but people who are on the clan’s list. ralphwiggum 6 Posted June 22, 2003 and within hours of posting my suggestion, i found a possible cheating method. if someone can replace uniform JPG file that is downladed from other places, he can replace it with JPG with all white textures. a way to get around could be OFP2 checking file name and file propert/signature once in awhile. KTM_Calle 0 Posted June 25, 2003 How about you make it so the only player texture you can change is your own? So if the cheater puts up with an all-white skin, thats his problem  : And let there be a option so you can view others camo even when not in game (in briefing), like you do with player logos now!  Edit: And have some kind of decryption system or something so you cant change others skin, or let them be handled by the server only.
