Guest Posted October 4, 2003 But there is no way to keep the riot shield from "bleeding" when hit, you know?
Jackal326 1181 Posted October 4, 2003 Indeed, as is the case with every weapon in OFP. If you shoot it, it will bleed. Try it out by killing a random soldier and then shoot his rifle, it'll display a red cloudlet. I'll consider the riot shield idea. I had begun one quite some time ago, but gave up on it, as it seemed it could not stop bullets...I'll see what I can do anyway. I'm about to add new images of the M16A4s, I'll post a link A.S.A.P. Sgt. Stryker 0 Posted October 4, 2003 please dont give up, even if it was just for cunematics it would be cool. But how bout that tear gas?
Jackal326 1181 Posted October 4, 2003 I'll try my best. It would be good if I could work it so the wearer of the gasmask was "immune" to the gas too.
Jackal326 1181 Posted October 4, 2003 OK, I've uploaded the new M16A4 images, and moved the older ones into the same sub-directory here, tell me what you guys think, I appreciate your feedback.
One 0 Posted October 4, 2003 they look really nice, I especially like the promo pick with the scope and silencer
Sgt. Stryker 0 Posted October 4, 2003 very nice, this is one of my favorite addons.
Jackal326 1181 Posted October 6, 2003 Glad to here it SGT. Stryker OK, I've uploaded images of what could be the "Final" versions of the woodland recon units (subject to my internal BETA testing of course). They can be found here (low quality, average file size) or here (high quality, rather large file size). Check them out at your discretion. EDIT: Please note I do know that the camera is facing backwards, I didn't notice it until I had taken and saved the screenshot, so its just gonna stay like that. munger 25 Posted October 6, 2003 Those M16's look amazing. I think they'll be hot competition with Earl's weapons when Suchey releases his Marines. Are you going to make a Reflex sighted version? How about one with M203?
munger 25 Posted October 6, 2003 Wow, I just checked out the recon units pic. I love the way you've made so many versions with different headgear etc so players can choose which they like and customise for missions. It's all about choice, you know?
Jackal326 1181 Posted October 6, 2003 Yes, I plan reflex and M203 versions. I'm glad you like the woodland recon units. There are far more variations besides those pictured available in the editor, but they are the same models, just carry different weapons etc. (as you said, its all about choice). Major Fubar 0 Posted October 7, 2003 This has probably already been asked (sorry) but any plans to make these JAM2 compatible?
ruff 102 Posted October 7, 2003 b4 he said he'll make it jam compatible so i guess it includes the new version
Jackal326 1181 Posted October 8, 2003 Yes, they will be JAM2 compliant. All weapons that JAM has magazines for, will include support for the initiative, but where JAM magazines are not available, you'll have to make do with ONLY SJB magazines and sounds. I've uploaded two new images of the M16A4 Rifles. The first image is of the other aimpoint M16A4. The second image is of the NVG scope M16A4. This, will not include an NVG optic, as sadly that is not possible within the current confines of the OFP engine, maybe in OFP2 Anyway, let me know what you think. One 0 Posted October 9, 2003 wow the nv rifle looks so damn good, im lovin the silencer, i hope you get a decent shot sound for that badboy.... but about the nv scope, couldnt you set it up so when you click on the v button for optics, it automatically turns on the nvgs of the soldier, and then with use of the action menu, be able to control whether nv be on or off. Kinda like the action menu for your blackop with the attached nvgs, but not really... edit.......like i really dont know about scripting limitations in the ofp engine, but would it be possible that when you view through optics, you could have a script that turns on the nvg when you do so? i dont really care about how the optic looks when you have the nv, cause i know it cant be changed, but automatically turing on nv when optics are selected could be a possiblity, and in use with an action menu to turn nv on or off while still using optics might be a nice lil feature
Jackal326 1181 Posted October 9, 2003 In an ideal world, all of what you said would be possible but sadly, this isn't an ideal world and hardly any of what you said is possible. OFP currently (to my knowledge) has no command or other way of detecting if the optics are being used, and the detection of key presses is limited to the movement keys. Hybrid and I are working on a method of doing this, but it wont be perfect.
One 0 Posted October 10, 2003 wow, ofp engine has it good and strong points, but i never knew it was that wack............ ah well, its all good as long as you come out with nice new units anyways, keep up the good work
Jackal326 1181 Posted October 12, 2003 Indeed. I've uploaded several ingame shots of the M16A4s. They can be found, along with the other images of the rifles, here. I hope you like them.
munger 25 Posted October 12, 2003 I DO like them. Tell me, what kind of textures do they use? The quality's superb. Regarding the recon units, are those vests they are wearing real? I haven't seen them before. Keep up the wonderful work.
bonko the sane 2 Posted October 12, 2003 Aye! Both the guns and the units look bloody amazing! Nice one!
Jackal326 1181 Posted October 12, 2003 Currently, the M16A4s use JPG textures (I'm working on converting them to .PAA which have a higher quality compared to PAC and preserve alpha channels (transparencies) better). The units use PAA/PAC textures. I don't know if the vest is real, I use it mainly because of the camo fitting with the rest of the units' camo. EDIT: I've uploaded yet more images of the M16A4s which can be found here.
Jackal326 1181 Posted October 14, 2003 By the way, in the event anyone is interested, the newest images were taken using 'Gummi's Camera Tool/Addon' on Tonal Island by BAS.
One 0 Posted October 15, 2003 Impressive work, these look to be the best m16's ever, and ur soldiers look pretty damn good will you be making all versions of scopes/aimpoints silenced? lets see some good pics of the matching desert soldiers ur making too
Jackal326 1181 Posted October 15, 2003 To answer your question, every M16A4 included will have a silenced counterpart. There are about 12 versions in total (6 silenced, and 6 non-silenced). I'm working on bringing you pictures of the Desert Units. I am reluctant to do so, as their appearance is not yet final, so changes are still being made.
