Jinef 2 Posted March 13, 2003 See in Britain the only people who have guns is police who never use 'em, the incompetent military whose guns don't work anyway and the most dangerous well organised criminals who can get them pretty easily.

In Finland weapons are respected and mostly used for hunting. (not shooting small animals just because its fun for example) In USA there seems to be alot of fat idiots who just like to play with them..<span id='postcolor'> Sounds like you are stereotyping. I own AR15's and AK's and i dont shoot small animals for the hell of it as well as alot of other firearm owners that i know. As far as "play"ing with firearms. That would have to be defined. As long as you are sure of your backstop and act responsibly, there is nothing wrong with blasting off a case of ammo. There are a few people who visit Gun boards from Finland and they have some nice weapons too and i dont mean hunting rifles. (like MG42's and PKM's) From what i read in their posts is that in order to obtain them they have to do pretty much the same as we do with our class 3 stuff. Selective fire weapons were restricted in the US in 1934. Not banned as many seem to think. Selective fire weapon were banned for futrue manufacture for civilians by the Gun Control Act of 1986. This does not mean that civilians cannot buy the ones already in circulation. A full auto AK currently goes for about $8000 US dollars (a far cry from 50 bucks in some 3rd world) and an M16 close to same. I would have to pay a $200 dollar transfer tax and go through an extensive background check with the BATF and get a signature from a local authority such as a Sherif. Full-auto weapons and silencers are legal in 35 states. I would'nt want to live in the other 15 states for obvious reasons. (high taxes, crime, corrupt politicians) Those are some nice reticlues. They need to be released for OFP.

110 0 Posted March 14, 2003 I dont reccomend bump fireing unless you live in a truly secluded area. its too difficult to properly control your weapon since your not aiming it or shouldering it. -- Thats cool madmedic! By the way i just got my home PC online and played a little last night. Do you host any games? most players were just playing caputure the flag or deatmatch. I want to play through an actual mission. 110 0 Posted March 15, 2003 Swiss citizens can also own selective fire weapons.-They are their military. I dont know what the laws are in international waters, but it might be possible to own whatever you want on the ocean. My guess is that the UN would'nt allow it.-not that they would do anything about it except talk.

It is basically a FFL that includes the sale/transfer of NFA weapons. To build machine guns, you must be a Type II SOT. You can not build new machineguns for sale to civilians. Anything built after the laws against new civilian registered machineguns went into effect is considered "Post Sample", and can only be owned by military, law enforcement, Class III dealers, and Type II manufacturers. (The AK I am firing in the pic I linked above is owned by a Type II SOT that I know),...he built it from a semi auto SAR 1 like the one in the video granitski posted. He also has a post sample M-60, and an M16. The M4 in the other pic I linked is a civillian legal, registered M16 reciever. (meaning it was civillian owned, and registered before the laws went into effect) Any civillian legal machinegun can be purchased by those of us that live in the 35 states where they are legal...It involves filling out the proper BATFE forms, paying a $200 tax, and getting the Chief Law Enforcement Officer in your area to sign a paper for you (the Local Sheriff, Police Chief, ect.) Also any corporation can purchase civillian legal NFA weapons for investment purposes, without a Law Enforcement sign off.

110 0 Posted March 15, 2003 I only have dial-up too. small games are fine. I played capture the flag the other night with no lag. Madmedic. if you want to play some small spec ops type game. we could whip somethin' up. I too want to play coop style. quake should be left to quake. I should probably ask this in the Multiplayer section, but what is the limit of the 56K in MP? when i played the other night there were about 8 other people and everthing was fast. How much would AI enabled soldiers slow the game down?
