Recommended Posts

whats relly weird is that the only aircraft shotdown in the past 10 years are the stealth/i move to fast for stealth technology to get on my plane, type planes. so would that make it better to be in a non stealth aircraft? confused.gif

I definitely remember at least one F-15E shot down during the Gulf. Another F-15 fighter variant was shot down in Yugoslavia. Syrian MiG-23s have scored at least three confirmed kills agains Israeli F-15s. And to think that IAF pilots are one of the best trained pilots in the world, some would say that even better than American.

A book called "Russia's Top Gun" claims that Syrians reported shooting down 3 Israeli F-15's. However, it's only a claim.

The one in Yugoslavia is contradictory. There was an aircraft shot down, which was captured on this quite blurry video. It was aired by BBC and Yugoslavian television and it was positively ID'd as F-15E by several specialists. However, at the same time a F-117 was shot down too and it was captured on tape too. Pentagon seemed to do the wise thing to protect the Eagle's reputation passing two different videos for one and admitted losing only the F-117. I have seen the first footage (not the F-117 one) and I'm positive that it was indeed an Eagle. The video was clear enough not to be mistaken as a completely different looking F-117 and also it couldn't be a MiG-29 since no 29's were operating in the area at that time.

I've heard loss figures ranging from 0 to 4 and I'm pretty sure that some of those claims are true. They have just been swept under the carpet to keep the Eagle record clean and tidy as long as possible.

even if it did have 1-4 combat losses, which i dont believe, the eagle is still the best... i mean its still got 100 kills to a (possibly) minimal loss record

You sound like a F-15 pilot. Most pilot's claim that the fighter they fly IS the best. But looking at you're birth date, I think you're not. (neither am I)

The record of 100 kills vs. possible one loss is because of the pilots that are in it.

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">The US Air Force claims the F-15C is in several respects inferior to, or at best equal to, the MiG-29, Su-27, Su-35/37, Rafale, and EF-2000, which are variously superior in acceleration, maneuverability, engine thrust, rate of climb, avionics, firepower, radar signature, or range. Although the F-15C and Su-27P series are similar in many categories, the Su-27 can outperform the F-15C at both long and short ranges. In long-range encounters, with its superiorr radar the Su-27 can launch a missile before the F-15C does, so from a purely kinematic standpoint, the Russian fighters outperform the F-15C in the beyond-visual-range fight. <span id='postcolor'>http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/f-15.htm

F-16s arent as good as the F-15... the records prove it...

but lets keep this on topic now, this bird looks good... though the pilot looks kind of big in that cockpit

Ya, you're right, let's stay on topic.

Pilot's too big? I dunno, let's see...

So? I would still take an F-16.

What sorta weapons is this gonna carry? And what type of gun?

Yes, good (me too), now let's cease this "which plane got the biggest dick" stuff yes? Before it turns out into a flame war and trigger happy mod comes in to lock it.

Back to topic:

Naah that ain't so bad, I don't see any big differences

the F-15 has the biggest dick biggrin.gif

but seriously if u look closely, the guy looks bigger than the canopy

But the F-16 has a bubble canopy with an excellent visibility and a pressure sensitive stick! I'd choose the Viper over any other American fighter. wink.gif

Back to topic. That Su-47 sure looks nice but there are something wrong with the proportions, for sure. And ZLOY, the size of the first image exceeds 100k, compress it or put it behind a link before a mod does it for you biggrin.gif

(for how long can we hide our off-topic conversation in these seemingly on-topic posts? tounge.gif )

Sorry for that! I was misinformed and since nobody knows what kinda plane that is I don't think it was my fault tounge.gif

I think (I could be wrong) but I think the SU-37 should have thrust vectoring, canards and also a rear facing radar system, as well as short range rear aspect missiles.

Aside from that though, to go back to the whole Cobra maneuvre thingy, I thought the obvious point was you get the plane to somersault, halfway through the move you unload your long range missiles at the guy behind you who is nicely lit up by the plane's all-aspect radar system, and then you scoot off again. For an ordinary plane turning to engage a nippy pursuit fighter would be a lot of effort, the SU-37 can cover its arse while remaining pretty much on course.
