And here is one of many Total conversions out there. And quit being a lazy whining BF1942 kiddie Search, search and search.
OxPecker 0 Posted February 7, 2003 Any total conversions out for opf? No. There are about 2 dozen in the works, but it seems unlikely any will get (fully) completed in the near future. Having said this (and sure that I'm going to get bitchslapped over my opinion again), there are lots of excellent addons and total conversion betas that you can work into some kickass missions or a campaign. peanuckle_00 0 Posted February 7, 2003 There has been a total conversion of ofp where everything is a snow atmosphere. It's the snow campaign. It's basically the regular campaign, but like I said, you're in snow camo, there's snow on the ground, everything is set to a winter war. They aren't accurate snow uniforms for U.S. troops though. Not a single hood on any of them.
Guest Posted February 7, 2003 *resists urge to bitchslap Oxpacker again* Operation Gulf War Crisis is working hard to bring you a total conversion of OFP. We released a little demo to show you some of the things we are doing. Rest assured the final version will be out this year, and will be awesome We are planning it as a proper TC, not just a bunch of addons...... Operation Gulf War Crisis Site is down currently 07/03/03 (thanks to bloody host....grrrrr), but will be up again ASAP.

-Ash- 0 Posted February 7, 2003 I'm making a mod based on a fictional conflict from 1985 between US and Russian forces on some islands known as Malden, Everon, Kolgujev with even a mysterious desert island thrown in as well! Â Then again.. You could always look at this mod

Large files weren't a serious problem though, i'd just go to a friend and asked if he could download it and put it on cd for me. Simple as that.

It matters for the server and the bandwith and it also matter for the 56kers .. But total converstions can still be possible. Just create a 2 new data and data3d pbos where you included every file you will need (and u delet that one u don't) so that it checks in original ofp. Even if it takes too much time you can get good results ..
Eviscerator 0 Posted February 8, 2003 they are possible, but for little gain, and a complicated install, if the total conversions added something new to the engine then it would be justified but sticking your logo on the ofp menu screens doesnt justify the extra download or the complicated install
Guest Posted February 8, 2003 @Eviscerator.....this thread was started by someone looking for a TC of OFP....obviously they think it is a good idea. And I know the Demo was large......that's why there was a wink after the word "little"...sheeesh. If you are on a 56k modem get a download manager like DAP or GetRight that will allow you to resume the download if the connection fails. And start it downloading before you go to bed/go to work. That way most, if not all of it will be downloaded when you aren't around. Why does this have to be explained over and over? Sheeesh. And I totally agree that large dloads that just add a pretty change to the front page are most likely a waste of time. But when you start tweaking/adding/altering the data and data3d pbo's, config.cpp/bin files etc etc......there are some VERY interesting results. And that's why the download for a true conversion of OFP would be large, because it would have to use versions of these files to get results that really qualify as a conversion. The sebnam pack.....brilliant as it is, does not qualify as a conversion as it doesn't convert anything really. It's an excellent addon, that everyone should have, but it's not a conversion. As for complicated installs.....go argue with the people that say they won't download a mod if it uses a self-installer
