What the hell do ya mean no texture loaded?

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to follow this damn tut from.

here

I'm doing what it says but the textures wont load!!!!!!!

I follow each thing step by step. My Crate folder with textures and .cpp thing are in my drive with o2 in it. I make the box, get the geopmentry and weight and everything. Now when I go to load textures, I do everything it says.

lesson1_d_3.jpg

I go right to there with my face selected and choose load texture. I pick the reddoor.pac but when I hit open, THE TEXTURE STILL SAYS (NULL)!!!!! If I press B to apply it, it just says no texture loaded.

Why aren't my textures loading!?

ok, your textures should not be in the same folder as O2 for a start.

Assuming you have the viewer as z:\*.* if you are following Brsseb's tutorial your textures should be in z:\crate\Texture.*

Make sure you have the path to the Oxygen .dll files set correctly in O2 (File Options) and then copy all the .dll files that came with Buldozer into the directory with O2 .exe in it.

I named mine X drive. And its X:\crate\texture

And the paths are all fine.

Have you copied the .dll files in x:\*.dll to *\O2_folder?

Try any gif with a size a power of 2 (eg, 32 x 32 or 32 x 64 etc) just to see if pac2pac or whatever it is called runs.

You should get a little blue line appear as the conversion takes place. This will tell you if O2 is working of the right files.

This might be clutching at straws but you do know that after any changes you make to FILE -> OPTIONS in O2 you have to close it down and restart for any changes to take effect.

Probably doesn't help but its just a thought.

Harnu, did u get it sorted yet?, if not here's what i was told to do.

When you try and load the textures it is following the path to your data folder, so you must place your texture/s in the data folder of buldozer, AND in the folder for your addon. Now when you choose a texture to skin your model, choose the one from your addon folder and it will be applied, then once you are happy with it, change the path that is default in the side texture window, usually "data\bla bla" to "model name\bla bla".

Hope that helps you m8, cheers HK.

I have the same problem too and I've never got it to work. I definately would like to know what's wrong with this o2. I've followed those same tutorials from word to word but still not working. I'm going crazy! crazy.gif

Hi

Sorry to hear that neither my tuts or the copy-texture-to-data-folder-first tip didnt work either. Also note that its not just the data foldere you can try this trick on, also other folders in bulldozer dir (especially other addons). I had this problem for a while where ewverytime i wantet to texture something, i had to copy the texture to a specific project folder in bulldozer dir every time, but the problem went away eventually (and i dont know why or how, PLEASE FORGIVE ME sad.gif )

Note that the getting started tut had an serious error, that was fixed the 14 jan. It involves renaming the folder "o2program" to just "o2" (because the old DOScommand SUBST have trouble with names longer than 8 characters). Try this

Ok, I got it finally to work by downloading & uncompressing & loading brsseb's completed crate.p3d from the lesson #2. The textures worked in that one and since then i am able to load textures. But there is still at least one problem, I can't see the loaded textures in the texture library. Do one have to do something to get them visible in texture library?

Brsseb: You definately don't have to be sorry to make a good oxygen tutorial. It's very nice and clear. Thanks for that! smile.gif
