R0adki11 3949 Posted October 12, 2018 1st Platoon (formerly Project Delta) was created by Eggbeast (Unsung mod lead Developer) back in 2017 as a way from which some of the developers as well as beta testers could play the mod together, it was then expanded that idea to include the general public but still handpicked. We have our orientation course for new members joining the group on Saturdays at 11:00 EST/16:00 UK and our large campaign operations (50+ players) every Sunday at 11:00 EST/16:00 UK time, we also have a monthly World War 2 event to change things up a bit. We take part in various campaigns of the Vietnam era from 1964 to 1971 as well as WW2 era from 1940-1945 and consists of three squads, a recon team and a flight element - Spartan, Viking, Vandal, Wraith Recon Team, Eagle Flight . Each campaign we do is 12-13 weeks long with a different 'theme' for each new campaign, rotating between Air Cav, Marines, Airborne, Armoured and even Special Forces plus we use the task force radio mod for communication but only Nco's and officers carry radios in their load out. Simplicity and fast paced action is key to our gameplay, we use the AIS medical system and only employ two formations: Column (single file or staggered) for moving when out of contact, and battle line when in combat. To be a member of 1st platoon you must attend the 3 hour orientation course to get access to our events and other channels in our discord. The orientation course is there for us to get to know you, let you know what you can expect at our events and what we expect from you. Attendance is never mandatory but if you want rank then you need to show up on a weekly basis and stay for the entire 3-4 hour ops, Pfc's can ask for a specialist spot if there's one open as they're the ones who have attended the most events.RULES: Comradeship: Our large ops can get long and complex with multiple objectives, combat noise, radio traffic, etc so we ask that you never argue or debate with your squad nco's while we're in ops as we have a chain of command. We have squad debriefs after every op so if you want to voice an opinion or concern then that's the time. Respect: Please be friendly and DO NOT use offensive names/images as we have zero tolerance for Nazis, trolls or extremists. Understand we're all trying to enjoy a game on our free time and have no time to manage someone causing offence to others. Discipline & Teamwork: Rambo's/Lone wolves are not welcome as you will be expected to follow orders and stick with your assigned squad, fooling around at our ops is highly frowned upon as we're trying to focus and have fun. Team Speak: We're on Team Speak when we play and you're required to be there and have a mic when playing with us to receive the server info and password. R0adki11 3949 Posted November 16, 2018 B52 Project Delta - Unsung Operations - Update Recently we completed our second campaign which has lasted 13 operations, this was based on a 13 month tour of duty for a USMC Company in Vietnam. Which was based around the fighting of Khe Sanh in 1968. On Sunday 11th October we moved on to our third campaign which will be a dual campaign with our group taking the roles of the Special Operation Group (SOG) and The AirCav at different points of the campaign. The idea is the SOG will have a mission which will then cause the AirCav to be deployed the following week to deal with the after effects of the SOG operation. SOG - Operation Castrate The SOG Operation was over the border in Cambodia, which required a unique set of weapons and uniforms as the USA were not authorised to be there officially. The operation was conducted at night, which meant stealth was required until the target had been found. Once identified Eagle flight was authorised for CAS the target area via Cobra Gunship. Once the target area was saturated with rockets and the target confirmed as been dead. We fell back back to our rally point, while hundreds of NVA troops descended on our previous positions. R0adki11 3949 Posted December 13, 2018 B52 Project Delta - Unsung Operations - Update Sunday Nov 18th Air Cav 1965 Operation Line Backer Following the work by SOG the previous weekend the Air Cav were tasked with drawing the NVA across the border in Cambodia into Vietnam and then cutting off their reinforcements once the enemy were across the border. This operation really relied on the mobile operation of the Air Cav, as this was our first Air Cav operation we had to get used to having no traditional front line. As Air Cav brought the fight to the enemy. As always a great job done by our Eagle Flight (Helicopter pilots). A pilot’s eye view: Sunday Dec 2nd. Second SOG Op' of 1965 This mission required stealth as SOG was tasked with eliminating a recon base, then to sneak into an enemy base and blow everything up. Although the first element went without a hitch, the attack on the enemy base didn't go as planned. Sunday Dec 9th. Air Cav 1965 Month 2 - Operation Red Wedge This mission required the Air Cav to finish what SOG tried to do the previous Operation. Air Cav assaulted the recon base, then proceeded to assault and destroy the heavily defended enemy base. This was no easy task with limited pilots and boots on the ground. The task was completed but not before the group had to withdraw urgently before been overrun by the NVA battalion bearing down on them. Upcoming Operations Sunday Dec 16th. R0adki11 3949 Posted January 4, 2019 B52 Project Delta - Unsung Operations - Update Sunday Dec 16th. Air Cav 1965 Month 3 - Operation Eagle This mission was a patrol of previous covered terrain and seeking out the enemy. It resulted in a logistic base been destroyed on the border between Vietnam and Cambodia. Sunday Dec 23rd. SOG Operation Colditz This mission required stealth as SOG was tasked with rescuing several POWs held deep within Cambodia. This mission was one of the toughest to date as we had to walk all the way to the target area deep within enemy territory. R0adki11 3949 Posted January 29, 2019 B52 Project Delta - Unsung Operations - Update Sunday Jan 6th. Air Cav 1965 Sunday Jan 13th. SOG 1965 Sunday Jan 20th. Air Cav 1965, Operation Tidal Wave I After finding what was thought to be a major NVA infiltration route the Marines enlisted aid from Air Cav to shut it down. Air Cav moved to assist and put down infiltration route. Sunday Jan 27th. Air Cav 1965, Operation Tidal Wave II After almost constant patrols & operations to deter & disrupt the enemy from gaining any permanent foothold in the province, our efforts have finally failed. After finding what was thought to be a major NVA infiltration route the Marines enlisted aid from Air Cav to shut it down....but it was a feint. Infiltrating on a separate route, NVA and VC forces attacked the US base in strength while we were on mission, and though the assault was beaten back, we are now cut off and surrounded....stand by. R0adki11 3949 Posted March 5, 2019 B52 Project Delta - Unsung Operations - Update Operation Classified Sunday Feb 10th - SOG - Classified SOG Dressed as VC destroyed targets over the Cambodia Border Operation Geronimo Sunday Feb 17th - Air Cav Tasked with patroling the north and finding a bunker complex, Air Cav completed the job without many losses. Operation Viper Sunday Feb 24th - SOG Inserted deep into Cambodia in a borrowed 'Mi8', SOG were tasked with assassinating officers, destroying an ammo dump and food dump while avoiding enemy squads. Before attacking a village and returning back to Vietnam via boats and an extract. Air Cav - 'Short' Sunday Mar 3rd This operation was for our three active squads of Alpha (Spartan), Bravo (Viking), Charlie (Vandal) to patrol their designated sectors and seek and destroy targets within their sector. Each squad leader could patrol how they wanted to. All three squads were supported by Eagle Flight providing CAS and Transport as appropriate. During our patrols we had an urgent order to reinforce the "Alamo" as the 1st Infantry were under attack, Air Cav drove the NVA and VC from attacking the base and returned back to their firebase. Upcoming Operations SUNDAY 10TH MARCH - 'Comrades' It has been a tough twelve months for the men of Delta, despite a number of successful missions into Cambodia they have been unable to completely stem the tide of the Vietnamese incursions from across the border. Many of their friends now lie in unmarked graves, or even unburied, in places nobody will ever see. On the back of those secret missions, the Air Cavalry have had no less of a hard time, victories, while many, have held little impact on the big picture and the Vietnamese just keep on coming. Now, just when Troopers of the Air Cavalry are preparing to rotate home, and SOG are packing up to move on, the Vietnamese launch a major offensive. Thanks to gathered Intel' the attack in the south has been blunted, but only after much bitter fighting from men who's only real wishes and thoughts are of home. Now the base is on red alert, the focus of the offensive has shifted north and as darkness begins to descend the men of SOG board their choppers wearily in the failing light, while the Troopers of the Air Cavalry shuffle around, nervously awaiting their fate. Lock & load gentlemen, hell is coming.... R0adki11 3949 Posted September 8, 2019 Delta Platoon Update Latest news from the Platoon, to allow squads to be more easily recognised and to allow for further individuality for our troops in the field. We have now moved to a separate Arma3 Unit page for each of our three squads. This means Spartan, Viking, Vandal and Eagle Flight all have their own unit patch. The squad scarf will still be worn, but mainly by our FNGs. Spartan: Viking: Vandal: Eagle: Latest Operations Following on from our previous report, we have completed the following operations: Operation Eagle Eye - Sunday 25th August - 16:00 UK Time After the battle at Ba Ria, VC and NVA regulars were rendered combat ineffective, but that was two months ago, and they have begun operating again. In the absence of discipline local VC units displayed a heavy hand, exacting revenge on several villages they suspected of either aiding the allies, or of containing party traitors. Australian troops on an aid mission came upon several of these villages and rendered aid, but now regular troops are on the move again, and they will be looking for supplies. Operation Alesia - Sunday 1st August - 16:00 UK Time As you know by now the offensive conducted during the Tet holiday was a complete failure for the Viet Cong, resulting in massive casualties for very little gain. Intelligence has reported that VC forces in the region are on the move again however, with the intended target being Vung Tau. VC insurgents have, this morning, blocked off the highway & reports are coming in of Insurgents within the city itself. We will respond immediately. R0adki11 3949 Posted November 8, 2019 Delta Platoon Update In this report, we give a long over due report of what Delta Platoon has been up to over the last few months. Continuing from our last update made in September. September Operations: Ia Drang Valley - 'We were Soldiers' Sunday 15th September 'Operation 'Hot Gate' - July 1968 - Sunday 22nd September On a search and destroy Op' this month, U.S. & Australian troops managed to drive Vietnamese forces from a major stronghold. After a trap was set by the 173rd Airborne, the 274th PAVN regiment assaulted the position but ran into reinforcing Australian soldiers, who had remained undetected. The arrival of Guerrilla's from D455 Battalion shifted the course of the fight forcing the allied troops to re-locate in order to prevent their encirclement. After a wild run through the jungle however, the allies regained the initiative & were able to mount a full assault upon the hilltop stronghold of the Vietnamese forces. Sources report that three Americans received the silver star in the action. SAS: 'Off the books' - Aug 1968 - Sunday 29th September Australian SAS Troopers dressed as ARVN and VC conduct search and destroy operations. October Operations: SAS: 'End of Days2' - Aug 1968 - Sunday 6th October A standard Search and Destroy mission, being conducted by allied forces, was used by Intelligence to uncover evidence of U.S arms and munitions finding their way into VC hands. Upon the missions conclusion, and after further investigation, it became clear that a certain corrupt ARVN officer was indeed selling equipment to local VC units. The S.A.S had been scheduled to secure FB locations in the days following, and so orders to end this arms trafficking was added to their mission profile. Due to the unstable nature of the alliance between the U.S and South Vietnam, S.A.S troops were disguised as ARVN & VC soldiers, and succeeded in destroying VC arms caches & eliminating the problem. Now, as darkness falls, the S.A.S troops have dug in at the three locations designated for FB's and must hold on until daylight, when Engineers and men from the 1st R.A.R will arrive. R.A.R: 'VC Dawn' - Aug 1968 - Sunday 13th October R.A.R: 'Rumble in the Jungle' - Sept 1968 - Dec 1968 - Sunday 20th, Sunday 27th October and Sunday 3rd November With the destruction of the last VC stronghold in the Province, their infrastructure is now in tatters. Delta Platoon is being deployed, in squads, to three separate bases to take advantage of this with aggressive patrolling. For the last four months of this tour each squad will have it's own AO, 1st & 3rd squads will be humping the boonies in the north, while 2nd squad will be patrolling by road in the south. This is a critical time, the VC have been scattered to the jungle and it is imperative that they not be allowed to get organised again. SAS OP: 'Nowhere to Run' - Nov 1968 - Sunday 3rd November SAS conduct search and destroy operations behind enemy lines to disrupt the enemy. I have to thank our War Photographer @psk_whiplash for the next few photos from the SAS OP: 'Nowhere to Run'. Our next operation this Sunday 8th November 2020 is a convoy mission, delivering supplies as USMC. To make things different our regular Zeus is taking the field in their new Captain role and another Zeus is running the show.
