That`s true!! smile.gif

And I think Mel Gibson will be a good, even as older Max. If it fits into the story.

But I hope that Mad Max 4 will be harder again, like the first two were. The third movie was for children and to mainstream in my opinion, only the last few sequences with the vehicle crashes were really good.

First mad max film was where his family got killed isnt that right?

i think that was the best one, it had a lot of feeling in that film. The others were completely different to it, hard to even see that they are sequels smile.gif But they were good, none the less. Another max film i guess is eithera blessing or a curse.

Ah yes, the original Mad Max, the memories... I remember loving that movie back in the early/mid eighties when I was a young impressionable adolescent.  My mother refused to let me watch anything that she deemed too violent, i.e. every movie I wanted to watch, so I had to spend a lot of time over at my friends house, who had not only a high tech VCR but also parents too busy to worry about what kind of movies he watched.   Mad Max was one of those forbidden fruits that I came to love.

When my wife bought me the trilogy in a box set for my birthday a couple of years ago, I eagerly got out the popcorn and turned on the original Mad Max movie.  I couldn't believe my eyes, the movie sucked ass... It was like watching a movie from "Mystery Science Theatre 3000"... IT was torture... What happened?  What had time done to my precious movie?  Anyway, "The Road Warrior" still kicked ass, and "Beyond Thunderdome" was still pretty good.  It was just that original Mad Max film.  It was just so.... Well... It was a cheesy B flick, I guess I never noticed it before.

Oh well, I look forward to the new one, perhaps it will give Mel Gibson a chance to redeem himself from all those glam-roles he's been playing.  I hope that goofy pilot guy with the bad teeth will be in it, he was my favourite character next to the little monkey boy with the boomerang.

I think the biggest reason it seems cheesy B movie-ish is the really bad dub job on the voices. Makes it seem realy comic-bookish.

Fast forward to last summer when I bought the newly released DVD with the original soundtrack. It was totally amazing how much more natural the movie seems when the voices fit the body, and arent as over the top.

I still rate them:

Road Warrior - Best

Mad Max - Next

Beyond Thunderdome - Distant third

Good point. Why the hell did they decide to dub the voices in the first place anyway?  Doesent make any sense.  Did they use some thick bush country accent that no one but Australians could understand? confused.gif  I've got to check out this new DVD version, so I can see for myself.

Yea, that is what I was refering to in my previous post....the cheesy dubbed voice version.

I find the dubbed voice of the big, bald-headed police officer who is MAX's supervisor to be particularly hilarious.

The original soundtrack is much better.

Actually, they are pretty mild. I was expecting total back water bushman accents, but they were really understandable.

I'd love to see them cast Hugo Weaving in the new movie. He has one of those odd faces that looks like it would fit well into some post apocalyptic world. smile.gif

Yeap..or from New Zealand.. Close enough!

Heh..

Agent Smith... When I saw Fellowship of the Rings, first thing I thought was 'Ohmigod! It's Agent Elrond!'  It's still a running gag among my friends.

Is it just me, or is hollywood starting to drege the old blockbusters and cult classics looking for a new hit?  How long till we see another Back to The Future, or perhaps Jaws? biggrin.gif

well, just saw from our local TV station, ABC 7, some short clips of T3.

no kidding...

another boom boom boom boom boom boom boom boom no plot movie seems to be the stuff.

there were scenes of someone hanging on the edge of one of those ladder trucks, at the end of ladder getting smashed into a glass window, someone jumping out from a glass wall to grab another, and a LAW/RPG to head in the middle of an open parking lot.

according to the reporter, it is due July 2nd.

Really? I thought he was from England......

I have only seen one Mad Max movie (the second one I believe) and that was a very long time ago. It was ok, with quite a bit of action.

Actually, I read somewhere that S. Stallone had made a script for Rocky 6 in 15 minutes, but for some reason, it wasn't approved for production ... how can that be? I've always thought of Stallone as one of the great actors/filmmakers in Hollywood. ADRIAAAAAAAN!!
