Seb nam pack 2 out!

Guys,

This mod is truly awesome!

Great textures, models and units.

It makes that POS Operation Gulf War Crapfest pale into mediocrity.

If I create a MOD subdirectory under OPF/ADDON and put all unofficial addons there, will the game be able to access those addons?<span id='postcolor'>

Yes, if you define the one or more mod subdirectories on the mod parameter in the command line that runs the Resistance EXE. Example:

"C:\Program Files\Codemasters\OperationFlashpoint\FLASHPOINTRESISTANCE.EXE" -nosplash -mod=Vietnam;DynamicRange<span id='postcolor'>

Can someone give a detailed explanation of how to get the

-mod command to work?

I took all the Nam addons from the Res/addons folder and put them into a subdirectory in OperationFlashpoint/Addons/Vietnam. Then i made a shortcut "C:\OperationFlashpoint\FLASHPOINTRESISTANCE.EXE -nosplash -mod=Vietnam".

When I run the shortcut it loads all the addons BUT the Vietnam pack lol. I thought it was supposed to work the other way around....

Instead of running an entirely separate execution of Resistance, why don't you use the -mod command line parameter, as discussed here? confused.gif That should solve your problems for you.

I've already pointed out the pack to one of the OV people. It's not as if they didn't know that the pack was around till now.

Who knows! They might have already incorporated it into OV, whose site is dead as a doornail, BTW. sad.gif

What would be rather cool IMO is if some of the other mod makers "helped" out by making some of the tanks/vehicles for both sides.

This would add to this pack in a big way.

I hope the SEB team will improve the promising-looking mortar with some sighting equipment. I think it's easy to implement compass (with degrees as in tank commmanders view) to mortar and elevation, possibly even range gauge. Currently firing the mortar is very inaccurate and it's impossible to judge distance.

btw. new Vietnam coop is up 'Plei Me Raid II 1-19 C'

Mission overview:

US Marines and elements of 1st Cavarly Divsion (Airmobile) conduct a joint search-and-rescue operation to extract possible survivors from helo crash at LZ Columbus. But operation is interrupted by a fierce Vietcong assault towards Marine garrison at Plei Me SF base. Marines fight for their lives while Air Cavarly charges in with reinforcements.

Hi guys

I don't post often here, but I have to tell you how amazed I am by this add-on. Everything about it is incredible. A totally new experience. I'm hugely impressed.

That said.. I assume you guys are working on new models for the various vehicles? I can't wait to run around in an M-48 (can we get the shark-teeth too?) or PT-76.

I'd like to illustrate my first mission I created with this pack. I was platoon leader at Firebase Falcon with two marine rifle squads, my command group, and three mortars. I had a third squad out on ambush about a kilometer away (set to "Guard" so they'd return to base when we got attacked). At Plei Me were two ARA Hueys and two slicks with a QRF.

Nothing much was going on for about five minutes. I took my command group out on a leader's recon of the perimeter. Just as we reentered, a squad of sappers comes running over a slight ridge and into the wire. Nobody reacted - even I could simply watch. Finally, someone from 2nd squad started firing back and killed the lead VC (literally blew him backwards with an M14). The rest of the VC stopped in their tracks and started firing. I saw two Marines go down, one calling for a medic. I fired, but I don't think I hit anything. I was still in shock.

The remaining VC were quickly dispatched and all was quiet. An OH-6 from Plei Me arrived and began scouting the perimeter. I heard gunfire in the distance, and sure enough could see that the Loach was taking hits. Just then the two Hueys screamed over my head, thunking as their grenade launchers hit an enemy I couldn't see. Smoke rose from behind that ridge. We all watched.

This went on for several seconds, and finally the enemy came at us in force. About a dozen VC broke cover and ran towards us. I fired as best I could, but the mortars ended up killing more than any rifle did. That attack was broken up, but no sooner had the last body fallen then another group of about twenty came at us. They lasted much longer, until one of the gunships did a danger-close pass along the perimeter and took out the last few.

By now I had moved on my belly up to the front, taking time to shoot at any muzzle flashes I saw out in the bush. I reached a perimeter sandbag position and took a knee. Another group of VC, again, about twenty, with RPGs and machineguns, broke cover and charged.

I fired, reloaded, fired and reloaded. I hit maybe five. The rest of the command group, including the Gunny, were all dead by now. I was alone with a few survivors of 1st squad by now. I took aim on a running VC about ten meters from me and let a few rounds go. He was entirely too fast.

I needed to reload and as I ejected the magazine, my world turned red.

As my soul left my body, I was shown my killer. It was a guy from 2nd squad. Apparently my leadership abilities conflicted with his vacation time in sunny Vietnam, so he shot me in the back.

Great mod guys. Never experienced anything like it. smile.gif

Having problems here on a system that otherwise never has problems with OFP.

I tried playing both the Trojan Horse SP mission and Blake's COOP mission. Several times, not always, at random points OFP freezes.

I have the name pack set up in a separate mod subdirectory tree.

Just finished downloading/testing it, and I have to say it is absolutely terrific - all the new weapons and units are extremely well done indeed, including the island. Setting the time to midday with the worst weather is something to be experienced smile.gif

The only problems I have - minor ones at that - are some of the weapon sounds, the DShK in particular. Just seems like it could use a different sound to the M2HB....something a little heavier and 'clunkier' for instance.

Anyway, the pack is tremendous...all your hard work is much appreciated smile.gif

Any plans to release the DShK as a standalone unit, maybe without the sandbags, as an East equivalent to the M2?

Anyway, great work...brilliant! smile.gif

Yeah I was asking this same thing earlier. OFP REALLY needs a standalong DShK addon for the Russians. Like you said, without the sandbags would be very nice so as to be able to put it on rooftops and stuff like that.

It must be something trivial. Is your folder structure like this:

OFP\Vietnam\Addons (don't forget the "S" at the end of "Addons")

Did you specify this on your desktop shortcut's command line:

-mod=Vietnam (notice the minus sign before "mod")

That's all that's needed.

Hey AL, I'm having the same problem. In fact, it is freezing my whole computer up. I'm right now trying to figure out why. I'm hoping it's because of some other Vietnam addon, but I have a sinking feeling that it's something in the addon itself causing the freezes as I've removed almost all other unofficial addons, and so I know it's not a memory problem. I only have a couple more to remove and if that doesn't fix the problem, then it's the SEB NAM2 pack that's the problem. If that's the case, then sadly I'll have to get rid of this otherwise excellent addon as well as dump any ideas of making missions with it until the problem is fixed. sad.gif

But before that I'll try troubleshooting using individual .pbo's from the NAM pack to see if I can narrow the problem down to one .pbo file causing the crashes. As it is I can only play for about 5 minutes before it freezes up on me. sad.gif

Has anyone tried playing the CoC Mines addon's demo mission "CoC Claymore Trainer"?

The moment that mission starts up, the graphic rending crawls at a snails pace.

Miles and the rest of you,

I suggest that you don't use the SEB Nam pack and the Dynamic Range sound pack together. I have a hunch that this combination causes problems.

I agree, any kind of a better aiming system would be great, be it an actual mortar sight (which would be excellent) or a simple script as in the old Goetterfunke's artillery piece, displaying compass degrees and range in metres.

However, what bugs me more than the missing sights is how the mortar actually works. The higher you aim the tube, the closer the rounds are supposed to land to you. Not the other way round. smile.gif

Yeah I took out the DynamicRange Soundpack. Same problem.

I just tested it out with ALL of the unofficial addons removed except for the NAM Pack2 and it STILL freezes up on me in both Win98 and WinXP. So the problem is with the addon pack sadly. It must not like something in my computer.

I never had this problem before. I also tried my other version of OFP:R version 1.90 and it works fine even though it's loaded with unofficial addons. I also never had problems with the old SEB NAM pack (with the Resistance fix addon). Maybe the NAM pack doesn't like OFP:R version 1.90? I'll have to try uninstalling Resistance and reinstalling it up to 1.85 to see if that solves the problem.

This really sucks big ones. sad.gif
