missing CCIP for A164 minigun on aircrafts

Recommended Posts

hello,
i noticed after latest downg....hem... "update", that the A164 wipeout has lost its ability to lock and have the CCIP on enemy aircrafts.
now you have to "guess" like in the 1950 fashion.
why this downgrade? just to push people to buy Jets DLC ?
any way to restore "old" CCIP ?
thanks

Use missiles. Wipeout is a ground attack aircraft, the gun is not meant to engage enemy planes. If you want to use it in AA role, your only options are either heatseeker missiles or guesswork with the cannon. With helos, it's not very difficult to hit with a long burst (and Wipeout has more than enough ammo), planes are hard, though. All this is realistic, the real A-10 really shouldn't engage in air to air combat, except on defensive, as a last resort. In fact, the idea of gun combat is 50s-70s era concept as well. Missiles are the way to go in modern era, guns are either for ground attack, or for rare situations where you either end up too close to the enemy or get jumped after running out of missiles.

The bottom line is, without Jets DLC, your best option for attacking enemy aircraft is the Buzzard. Outside AAF, don't bother, both Wipeout and Neopheron can defend themselves well enough, and their primary role is supporting ground troops, which they're really good at.

while i understand your answer, i totally disagree, for many reasons.
while ARMA3 is sadly not a mil-sim, a bit of realism is what differentiate it from battlefield or COD. and real A10c has an AA mode for its GAU8a...not much else to say.
about gameplay, the F18 advantage is already better agility and faster speed, i dont see the point to artificially invent a new limitation just to give another advantage to JETS DLC owners.
the CCIP was already there !! they removed it for marketing reasons! while removing radar from a littlebird seems perfectly correct and good thing, remove an already existing and realistic feature is not!

Does it?

How does it lock on and calculate range to an enemy aircraft in order to deflect the gun piper, when it has no air-to-air radar?

Hi Folks,

I was messing around last night and I think CCIP for bombs may be missing as well - dropping GBU's from one of the vanilla planes... Might have been the one that looks like an Albatross - I didn't research it further...

Regards,
Scott

You're correct. The AA-mode is a classic non-CCIP HUD-funnel and there's several profiles in the IFFCC for different plane types, aka, different wing tip-to-tip measurements to get the funnel to be as exact as possible versus the actual threat profile:)

yep, Bamse explained it a bit better.
there is not just the "cross" to aim, its a way more complex system, and now had been brutally deleted, like older features...i still remember things like dragging injured soldiers ecc...all deleted.
