The textures are nice but they just look a bit cartoony. They don't seem to fit in too well.

I think the textures are very good, and don't look cartoony. I would have liked to see some woodland SAS to match the American units. confused.gif

It might just be me being stupid but it would help if there was a readme telling people they also need the original HK Pack before this will work properly. I tried it without and there were lots of errors popping up and untextured weapons etc.

The models are good, and help to create variety in the ranks of all the standard retextured soldiers. It's a shame the helmet wasn't remodelled to make it a more realistic shape, as the current OFP k-pot isn't large enough and just doesn't look right. I also think some of the troops look a bit skinny, although this is again more a problem with the default OFP units.

Overall, I'm sure these new units will be useful for all kinds of missions. smile.gif

Sorry guys, but you missed something; The SAS are wearing a US flag. I suppose they might if they wanted to play mind games, but otherwise, they wouldn't be wearing ANY identifying tabs.

The "terrorists" you guys out out with pack 1 are probably closer to the mark.

I seem to get a missing weapon error only when i select the basic "soldier" units. I have the all the required weapon packs(or so I thought?)

Anyone else get this?

Do have the M4 pack with the desert M4? I think earlier versions of the M4 pack didn't include this.

Thankyou Wardog! biggrin.gif And how come theres no textures on the handgun holsters? And a lot of the models dont work for some reason.

The textures need quite a bit of work still, especially the desert camo....the SAS troops look more like Royal Marines and i don't think they would roll their sleeves up either...

The M16s look pretty good though smile.gif

Just a bit of constructive critisism...

The textures need to be darked just a tad, they require some additional noise and sharpness, instead of being smoothed out. Make it a bit more realistic, the clothing can do with some creases. The weapons are overall pretty good, but the P9 needs less damage. The PSG-1SD is very nice, but needs a 'bluer' scope.

But apart from those, this pack was spent very nicely on, and adds another dynamic to OFP. Good work.

You can get the PSG-1 to work? When I use the addweap/mag commands it says something like can't find the model. I even adjusted the cpp so it'd look for the model in the right place, and re-pbo'ed just the cpp and stuck it in my addons folder and it didn't work. What am I doing wrong??

Could someone PLEASE post what addons are required?? I can't get mine to work at all and I have Flippers M4 pack (version 2.1) installed. WTF??? AAAARG!!!

For those of you who have it working perfectly, please let us know what other addons are needed. I've been waiting forever to see some decent U.S. units (other then Frandsen's Marines) so it pisses me off to no end that I can't get them to work at all. sad.gif

Ok.... I finally got the damn thing working. Apparently you need the original HKmod pack to get the new one working....which pisses the hell out of me as it's HUGE. sad.gif

Now that I got it working... here's what I think:

Rangers and Marines were very disappointing. First off, textures on pistol belt turn white at a distance. Second, most of the desert units use the old Gulf War era "chocolate chip" cammoflage. That was gotten rid of very quickly after the Gulf War as it was found to be rather poor quality camoflage.

The SAS units as someone else noted, have the American flag on their shoulders. Furthermore the American Flag on all the units floats above the shoulder. The SAS units also have overly bright desert camoflage that sticks out like crazy. Also are those helmets correct? Does the British Army now wear the same type of kevlar helmets as the U.S. Army? It would have been nicer if the SAS troops had those arab style head scarves on there heads (and not just wrapped around their necks) like those German SF troops in the HKmod.

Finally, the weapons... they are mostly good except I was very pissed off that these units FORCE the player to use Flipper's addon pack, if not in the mission, then in the player's addon directory where it just takes up RAM space. Personally I don't like using that pack as you can't pick and choose which addons you want and which you don't want. There are several other M4 addons that I prefer to use (such as the one that came with Frandsen's Marines). The desert camo M4 for example is very unrealistic. I've never seen any U.S. forces using a desert camoflaged M4. sad.gif

They should made these units as seperate pbo's and they should have made them use the standard BIS weapons. That way the mission makers have the choice of adding whatever weapons they want. As it is, it forces the user to use three huge .pbo files. The HKmod2 pack, the original HKpack, and Flipper's M4 pack. So while I REALLY like the SEAL Team 6 unit and the SEAL woodland camo unit (with the black watch cap), I can't use it in a mission cuz it's a beta addon and because it requires huge addons that many people may choose not to download.

I know it's a beta, but nevertheless it's still frustrating as I really would like to make missions with some of these units.

Well... at least I can look forward to the Ballistics U.S. units. Hopefully those will look more like modern U.S. troops and also that also they will not force the mission maker and players to use a ton of different unofficial addons for it work.
