Gunners on cars and civi helo's

Recommended Posts

I was thinking that we should make cars and helos with gunners, except not an mg or minigun, but an ak47 or something like that. For a car, say you make a van that has the rear doors open, and a man kneeling there, with an ak47. heres a picture to demonstrate what i mean: (I know, i made it a quickie on paintbrush)

Then in the config you define the AK47 as a turret that can turn to be able to aim normally from the back, and the man as a gunner in kneeling position. Would work great for police chases, GTA: VC chases, and A-Team stuff! The helicopter would be done in a similar fashion, say a Bell Jetranger with the passenger door open, and a man kneeling and shooting the same way as the van. ALso could be done with sunroofs on cars, pickups, boats, etc!

Also please have a look because it's the closest you can get to men firing their guns off of the vehicle, I'd do it but I have absolutely no idea about the proxies and positioning and other stuff like that. confused.gif

You'd have to put in a bipod unless you didn't mind it looking strange... take the Littlebirds for example.

Yea i would like a guy siting on the back of a van with the doors open shooting from a mounted M60 might look stupid but fun

Not mounted, just normal. IT wouldnt look stupid because the man and the gun would turn. Look at the picture it demonstrates well enough.

To OFPPunk: were you referring to Tony Montana in my sig as the guy out of the sunroof?

Would the gun be hovering in midair until someone mounted up, or would it only appear when someone was in the position?

what about a wire from doorend1 and 2 and a PK fit on that wire and a gunner behind it than it has a axis

Wouldnt there be a way for the gun to be invisible or not there but when the gunner got in it appeared?

Vixer: that would be a good thing for resistance, but for a gang or a mafia I don't think they would have pk's.

ONE LAST THING: WHY the hell hasn't anyone done technical (Pickup with machinegun!wink.gif I mean seriously we've had oxygen for a pretty long time and it's sad that no one say has retextured Mehanics Ford Bronco and made it look rusted and shot out, and then added an M2 or Dshk or whatever on it.

heh i suggested the same thing to the ballistics team in our forum a couple of days ago, although mechanics bronco doesnt fit the role, something like a landrover 90 is better

I was thinking something like this:

Something along the lines of what you've seen in Blackhawk Down.

i made a request for something like that for the Reisistance a long time ago but nobody seemed to liked it, because a western style truck wouldn't be "common" in places like nogova and everon. sad.gif i tried to make a model w/ GMax but it looked like crap.

nice!

Regarding that van with the gun mounted near the backdoor: Wouldn't it also be possible to be able to open/close that back door? You then could move up with that van in concealment and suddenly open the doors and blast the target apart. Would indeed be great for some sort of Mafia vs Cops scenario or some Resistance Guerillia tactics (civilian car with civilian driver but resistance gunner should still be considered civilian by the AI in the first place, right?

Major, that looks great!!! wow.gif

Something I`d like to see in OFP would be the option that co-drivers in cars were able to shoot out of the sidewindow. Or imagine to shoot through the front window in Robert De Niro-Heat-style tounge.gif

But I don`t think something like that would be possible. sad.gif

Even if it was great for developing new strategies or even car wars maps!

I think it would be very possible to have someone in a car firing their handgun out of the window. Heres my idea:

Make a model of a soldier already inside the car, and make the head and arm be part of a turret, and a gun inside the mans hand. Sure, it wouldnt really be a man, but it would look authentic, but you wouldnt be able to kill him. and then of course the custom animations would work but that hasnt been released yet.
