Typewriter noise

Hello again,

I have played some missions that had the text appearing on the screen one letter a time and the sound of a typewriter playing. does anyone know how to do this?

I tried searching for "type", "typing" and "typewriter" but didnt get the answer.

basically it´s done with a script that adds letters to words till they are completed. The sound I used was cut to the length of the onscreen appearance of the whole thing.

but how can i mention anyone in my mission if you only give me a script excerpt??? and why would you say to make sure i give credit to an author when you don't even put the guy who made the script or the ENTIRE script???

if i gotta figure out the rest for myself than the only one who deserves credit is me. Besides if you have ever played any mission i made you would know i give FULL CREDIT to anyone who contributed to it or to anyone who's addons i have used.

i dont mean to make you upset but when you stick that "note" like you did its a rude slap in my face

some people do actually SEARCH the forums before they post and this will not help them out at all.

What´s your problem ?

I never played a mission of you. I offered help on a topic you didnt know how it worked. I posted the script excerpt done by myself to give you the idea on how it´s done. The script for the complete display is very long, cause the text displayed is very long, so it would have busted the thread. I doubt that you need to do anything else then copy /paste the script to transform it for your needs.

Credits can be mentioned in outro, Notepad at briefings or anywhere else. I always found a way to do that. If you ask for a solution you are not able to do on your own don´t be surprised if the author wants credits. Usually that is no problem with mapmakers, so why do you bother ?

If you are not smart enough to carry on the script excerpt I doubt you understood how it works (this one is a real easy to understand script). Don´t come up to me with such crap and answer your questions on your own in the future. I am not willing to accept such an attitude.

YOU are the one with a problem man, If you asre unwilling to help out and to answer a simple question without having to post some disclaimer about "making sure you give credit to the author" than kindly refrain from posting at all.

I don't have an attitude. you came off with one with that Rude note of yours that assumes people wont give out credit. instead of thinking people are going to rip you off unless you tell them to give credit why not just help out and stop at that? if you feel you must warn everyone then you have some trust issues and should not be handing out advice to anyone. I asked for a completed script because there are OTHERS who may want to know how to do this and who may not be as proficient at this as you or i.

and i already said i ALWAYS give out credit. i have been doing so now for over a year.

the problems with a forum like this is people do not know the emotion behind a statement. when you make a blanket statement like that people will take it the wrong way.

The whole credit issue is a moot point anyway unless someone is actually making money off of copyrighted material. I suggest if you are concerned about getting credit that you NOT post the material to begin with because the person is not legally obligated to post credit despite any "notes" or "disclaimers" specifically requesting such.

Besides, if you're THAT good, the credit will come to you on it's own course!

Now my question is, did you get it to work?

I have already made bad experiences with people ripping missions taking scripts, parts or anything from them and use them in their mission. If you fell bothered about my note to mention in credits I guess it´s you to be wrong. I have done it, I am offering it to comm when I post it here and I have the right to mention that credits should be given to author.

If you have no idea of scripting or cant see the aspects of the script it´s not my problem. I am in OFP com for 2 years now, run a Editing tutorial page that helped some people a lot and I wont accept any attempt to undermine my post. It is clear and easy . The script is working, so maybe you should get a glimpse on it first and THEN accuse me for weird things.

You asked a question, I answered it. It was not me wanting to know how it´s done. It was you. So I answered the question and all senior ME guys know that it is the answer to your question. If you dont understand simple scripts that´s certainly not my problem.

hmm, I think that you should have posted the whole script. The only reason I say so, it is that we are a small community and we should all help from each other. If he or anyone uses one of your script you should feel flattered, moroever it is gonna add to the mission that anyone is gonna release. Are u not happy to play more good missions? Well I am for sure, I dont think that there is a competition for the best scripter or best mission maker, so u guys are not competing with each other, so u should work togethere   .

I simply asked you to not be so rude in the way you state you want credit. and to Clarify for others who may not be as proficient in scripting. Is that so hard to do? or are the begginers so beneath you that you don't want to deal with them? Come on Man, lighten up.

I don't want to compete with anyone. I make missions for the entire community to enjoy and they speak for themselves. If someone plays a mission of mine and see's something they like for something they are making than go ahead and feel free to use it. that is the whole point of having a community we all share our knowledge freely with each other and that helps to educate the ENTIRE community thereby making it stronger as a whole.

If you fail to change the letters and add an "exit" at the end it´s not my prob.

Some basics are known or do I still have to add "save the script with .sqs at the end and not .txt" ? No.

I will not continue this now. If you have probs I am sure a lot of people are willing to assist. Don´t count me in.

It was you that blew up cause of my Note which was in no way offending or anything else.
