What I find a bit ... whats the word... irritating (but thats too strong) is that the units that you made yourself (paladin,challenger, etc) really look "synthetic" in comparison with the reskinned ones. My knowledge of making is not such that i can tell you what is the problem, but it might be a lack of detail in both model and textures. To my opinion this should be corrected. Skaven 0 Posted November 7, 2002 Congratulations Quarkergamer, I've downloaded the DEMO and as it says it's a "Demonstration", and a very nice one. Indeed some things should be changed and fixed, but that is mainely what you guys made the Demo for, I think it served the purpose well, it showed what you guys can do and what people would like to see changed and fixed. I specially liked the SG552, the M249, the Bradley and the Desert Island (smooth and simple why complicate?) it's a very nice isalnd,congratulations. The installation program is one of the best I ever saw, very user friendely and complete, I hope the final project as an installation file like this too. Some things should be improoved for the final version, like the SA80, some models for the soldiers used, and some small details,other than that I say this is a big promiss. I think this one of the first MODs released althrough as a Demo yet, it's nice to see the amount of work you guys had, and specially the speed of production, please accept my gratitude for the effort you guys had on making our game better and ritcher, and I hope to see the final version soon. I think that F15 and huey looks fine but u are right M109 and challenger 2 looks very basic. Why not limiting the land around the map to a bare minimum so that it look like endless desert? Is this not possible or not desired mission-building wise? dm 9 Posted November 8, 2002 the ofp engine does not support inland areas, so all your islands have to be surrounded by water as for the opgwc mods map, i havent seen it so i dont know - there's no way i'm d/l'ing 200mb+ on 56k..... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

It is however, a big island...couldn't be all that much bigger really. The best way to make it seem like endless desert is to drop your viewdistance down to about 300 Believe me I have thought about how do the edges of the land, and I think a vaguely "natural" look is far better than just cutting it off at the edge. Also AI pilots have problems with steep cliffs...you have to set their skill at maximum to avoid really cliff, and even then sometimes they hit them. As for images of Iraq...hehehehe i have a few. I am working on he next generation of textures as we speak, and I am hoping all of you will love them. All 512X512, colours sampled from photos of Iraq (I couldn't get Saddam to ship me any sand)....and airbases based (sorry) on US Military photos.... minus the big black craters of course So the next release of the island will be bigger, better and brighter....and a fair way off...... It's 120mm rifled gun should be about equal to the M1A1's 120mm smoothbore in terms of damage caused. In terms of armour, the Challenger should definitely be stronger than the M1A1 as it is the most armoured MBT in NATO (source: FAS), and that includes the M1A2 which is itself stronger than the M1A1 due to the depleted uranium inserts in its frontal armour. As for mobility, both tanks should be about equal. The Abrams has a 300hp advantage over the Challenger but in terms of real life performance they both manage similar road and cross country speeds.
