FoxFort 341 Posted April 15, 2016 Bullet tracers in vanilla ArmA 3, why they have never been improved, just ported from A2 which looks like came from A1 Just to point on what developers could make in ~30 minutes, but they decided to not to do it because you don't need it in Combat Simulation game.(I still love you developers, ArmA 3 is awesome game) Now there is this addon Blastcore Tracers A3 , but still it's not that good. My knowlegde of modding or making games can't be even compared to anyone from the developer team that made ArmA series. But from my 3DS Max experience, which is basic. Bullet tracers only need a new model, since it's a fast object, it doesn't need lot of polygons or special complicate shape, so simple long X shape model could be enough. In that case replacing current one with new X one should be enough. Now if we talk about different color, like center is hot while endings are cold/transparent that need more time to get it perfectly working. Besides we are talking about bullet tracers not building or weapon or any other complicated model that requires special HD textures etc. But with 4 games of ArmA series under their belt, bullet tracers should not be a problem. ineptaphid 6413 Posted April 15, 2016 While there is nothing wrong with questioning elements of the game or hoping for things to be different, I would ask you to not make arrogant statements like " they could make in 30 minutes". Firstly the game is going through some very major changes to water and lighting right now and everything has it's place on the list of things to get to. I don't see how you could know how long it takes to redesign tracers from the ground up . And lastly, as always-if it is so quick and easy, you know what to do. Design it yourself and release it for all the community to enjoy. And please do not mention other peoples mods-such as Blastcore- and then simply say "it's not that good". FoxFort 341 Posted April 15, 2016 I do agree that my statment is little strong, but since bullet tracers haven't seen significant changes from 2006's Armed Assault. It's not unreasonable to say that I'm little unhappy that some important visual thing when comes to war related game has been neglected. I believe that dev team is very talented with lot's of experinece, that's why I believe simple tracer improvement should not be a too much of hassle. The bullet traces have been like this since 2006, so it's not just a problem from April of 2016. Currently yes, they are doing a overhaul which is very, very time consuming of course, now they have other priorities. But in near future we as end users, could deserve a simple yet better version of bullet tracers for this game which is war based. As you can see I've mention my version of Blastcore tracers, which is a needed improvement of already great work from OpticalSnare. So I'm speaking of "my" Blastcore. Which is improvement over vanilla ArmA 3 tracers. These traces use better model which in return drasticly improves visuals of traces and they are not total overhaul, Original OpticalSnare Blastcore tracers can be used as an example or even base for new tracers, maybe even a copy-paste with slight changes (OpticalSnare even gave everyone a freedom to do whatever they want with his Tracers).I have NO wish and I don't want to be that person who is a "smartass" and tell anyone how they should do their job. And of course there is nothing wrong with wanting more upgraded things-the only issue I had was the thing about "it would take 30 minutes" ;) So is your version of BC tracers working alright? Well, tracers still work, but new lighting has messed up tracers color a little and it looks like bloom/glow effect is gone, bloom/glow works with NVG, but not without. Valken 622 Posted April 19, 2016 As an end user I wish BI would really upgrade their lasers to tracers such as those in Foxfort's or OS's version. The reason is that compatibility patches are required for all the weapon mods out there and its a patch-a-thon with any ARMA3 update. Look how many modders complain about breaking mods and compatibility. Correct tracers should be a built in feature so I agree with Foxfort's idea. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
