Is it possible to uncompress a compressed mission file?

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

is it possible to uncompress a compressed mission file? PBO Manager and all other tools do not work and I cannot really find any informations about it on google.

There was a tool called PBO Decryptor 1.5 but somehow it's giving me a exception if i try to unpack the mission.

Thanks,

Inofix

If its a mission.sqm and you made it and are trying to make it readable, go into 3DEN and click the Binarize Mission File in Attributes, then save it again. Should convert it back.

It's not a sqm file, it's a whole mission pbo file.

Wow just wow ... Just to tell the other people: This is our mission file, I can read it from that code. So what he / you are trying to do is stealing code from our mission ...

If you need something from us, a script a tipp or anything, feel free to ask us via email with contact@zero-one.cc or me directly at arkensor@gmail.com, but to first try to get the code from us without even having asked to maybe get help is soooo rude.

People like you are the reason, why I made our files non readable!

You wasted alot of time, and you might continue after this, but instead you could have send us a message with: Hey I like that feature or hey how did you fix that bug in altis life, and we would have helped you.

Even if you just wanted to have a look on our mission .. once you have found something cool you would go -> copy + paste -> remove me or one of the other developers from the author tag -> and tell you people, what a great script you made.

You can even see me as the author of that file ...

Auhtor: Arkensor Desc: List of all arma 3 notifications ingame, would have been the code of that line ;)

As you seem to have interest in something from our mission feel free to ask. I don't want to belive that you did it to steal content, but to learn something from it. So I offer it once now, contact me or invest more and more time in cracking our pbo.

Stop being a self righteous prick like the majority of Altis Life owners and share your stuff because 9 times out of 10 all YOU have done is modified someone else's code.

If someone ask, we always help. And thats a cliche. We share nearly everything. The only thing we want is to know who and where it will be used/will use it.

So whats the point? Should we share everything? We - and other - want to protect there missions because its not cool when people grab stuff and remove the credits just to say "i have made it"

Again: its OKAY when someone wants protect - just becaus BI, Tonic etc share there work (thanks for that) dont mean everyone should do the same. BI for example have some guides wich tells us how its allowed to use the code - they have some rules for that.

Our Rule is: dont grab it befor asking.

Dont say we're childern just becaus a lil rage here - if you know how often we see our work out there without any credits, you be able to unterstand that.

So yeah, we're thankful. We share. We care. But we do not let ppl grab stuff without our knows

BTW:

Sorry for my bad english

Surprisingly children, a common way that many people learn is off others.

Without sparking a new debate AGAIN about who owns what content in ArmA missions etc.

The whole mission file isn't yours unless you remade "Altis Life" from the ground up(Which I'm certain you didn't).

Imagine if people like w0lle, larrow, t0nic and so on blocked access to some of the great things they've created?

Imagine if people like KK and mikie boy didn't make guides on learning how to script in ArmA?

Better yet imagine in Bohemia made ArmA III uneditable/moddable?

Stop being a self righteous prick like the majority of Altis Life owners and share your stuff because 9 times out of 10 all YOU have done is modified someone else's code.

Well you are wrong, sure there is some of the code left from tonic, but not more than a file name. The entire mission is rewritten, as altis life is not capable at all for our player amount.

This mission is our work, and we protect that work. In addition we offer people to help them, with our experience and code snippets.

The only thing we do not like is other altis life server ripping of our mission, because they think they could get many players with that, and lots of performace.

Remeber we are not an tactical mission server, we are not wasteland, we are altis life, and the only thing why somebody would like to look into our mission is because they take our work, do not ask if they may use it on theirs, and write their name as author in it.

Our mission was public for 1 1/2  years, than in that time we got daily reports of other server taking our work 1:1, somethimes they even named themselfes after us, in oder to get our players.

Because of that, we not secure our missions from thefts. And only for them.

We contribute alot of our knowledge to other communities and forums, so please to not refer to us as a self righteous prick.

If other people want to learn from us, they can message us, and people like me share their ideas, scripts etc in the forums for arma 3.

You could ask Sa-Matra why he keeps his mission secret and only sells it to hosters ?

There are those 99% of the servers that do noting and think they are god himself, those who touches 1 out of 100 files in altis life, but I can tell you that is completly not the case for us. We have been working since 2 years on this mission now, and we protect this work.

If BI would not have allowed donator systems, we woulnd't have got any reason to protect our mission, but people took our code and introduced it as doantor feature on their servers, and made alot of money with that.

Don't get me wrong, you are right willithappen, but what you say does not count for us.

Imagine you make a mission, that everbody loves, and someone changes a bit and then sells it to people who do not know you as the author, and so they do not know that you could have got that for free.

a) You could say, well I don't mid, or :b you can say public ok, but no one makes money with my work. Either you prefer a or b, that is something every body has to decide for himself, and that has nothing to do with, my work is so cool - I don't want you to have a look at it, you can only play it.

In my personal opinion, as having a public server in the past I can understand server owners natural desire to protect their code because everyone wants to have something unique that would attract players to their server and not some other guy's server. So in this respect not wanting to share the source is quite justified. Acting like you are entitled to see the code someone wrote just because you own the game is just plain wrong. If the owner of the code is willing to share it, you should be thankful. If he is not, well, this is his right.

First off I don't want to rip anything from your mission nor create a altis life server. I enjoy developing missions for arma 3 and get used to learn a lot of things from it. That's why I'm trying to take a look at your Mission file.

I can respect that you don't want me to have it as a plain text, but I just can't resist to try it and get more knowledge about pbo en- and decryption.

AltisLife and "stealing" what a joke.

You are trying to protect a mission from million stealers. Because this is AltisLife. If he wants to learn and take a look at your code for some inspiration, right. If he wants to take the whole mission get him on his teamspeak and sort things out.

We are not here to discuss about stealing but how to open this mission file. Everyone can win something by learning how. Don't be that mad AltisLifers you signed Tonics contract as soon as you downloaded the mission files.

Use pbomanager http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=16369&highlight=PBO%2BMANAGER

i use this all the time to open pbo's.

Contains a Virus Trojan downloader called FLV Downloader. Embedded

Use Eliteness. Also code theft is a mute point, as most people I know who have stolen code, wouldn't know how to

put two bricks together they're that stupid.

Maybe you have the virus already imbedded on your computer as that link is from armaholic and they scan all their files, I have had pbo manager

for years and got it from armaholic, sorry to say its safe on my end and never had any issues with getting it from armaholic or had any virus ect,. from it, and i also use elitness.

As for the rest of this thread, imo as a standard in this community there is no theft if there is any from others if one is to just ask permission,

as myself has always done with all my own work for the community.

I have always used Elieness and then cPbo to repack.(Google Mikeroos Tools)..that mission file is binarized though..if you unpack the pbo with Elieness then open it in Eden and save it without binarizing it should work fine.

As far as "stealing" code..if I use or even try to use a small part of someones code or if they help me with a code on the forums I always give them credit someplace in the mission, usually a "credit" spot in the create diary in the editor. Or in the readme file in a Mod or finished script.

Hi there,

it looks like the server I play on is compressing the mission file from now on. I cannot depbo it anymore and I don't know what I can do now nor can I find any informations about it.

Does anyone of you guys know more about this OR is anyone able to decompress this mission file?

another post by the same user:

Yes.

You can even bypass the max player limit.

Had my server open for 2 hours.

5628/10.000 player (random value between 5000 - 7000).

Was so fun, about 90 people joined within the first 40 minutes :P

But take care, fake servers will most likely get perm banned from the master server within a day.
