Eden: How to place a soldier on the map

I got Operation Arrowhead in Oct 2010

 

I have been using the editor since about early 2012 - 4 years and I have become pretty good at it.

 

See screen shot. I wish to place a soldier on the map. How do I do that?

 

Anything greyed out is not available for use.

For me the placable entities and stuff are on the right and not the left. Try saving your mission and place a playable entity

Edit : You are looking at the already placed entity/stuff list that why. Try the right list

There is no "right list"

View menu -> Interface -> Asset browser

 

It should visible by default. Unless you've accidentally pressed the shortcut key to hide it.

Hit 'R' and see if a tab on the right side opens. Or just use the 2D Editor while it's still there.

On the left side lise see that << on the left of "ENTITIES" text? That hides/Unhides the left list. See if theres << or >> on the same place on the right side? It should be there and it should unhide the rightside list.

I can see the right side. I opened a scenario I was working on and the right side is visible. I can choose any Blueforce any soldier, tank, aircraft that I wish

 

As a result I cannot place any soldiers except Blueforce.

 

Instead of opening a current scenario I shall open a new blank scenario.

 

As per my screen shot ALL are greyed out.

 

So, I can select nothing.

What does the right side look like? Your screenshots don't show it.

OK I worked it out. The tutorial was not helpful. 

 

Post 9 above has a link to a wiki site with a screen shot.  The screen shot highlighted the red diamond!  Select that and I can place Opforce soldiers on the map!

 

The instruction missing from the tutorial is the instruction to select one of the coloured shapes which represent Blueforce, Opforce etc etc
