Any tips to give to have more ai on map with out much fps drop

Recommended Posts

This goes for Arma 3 and Arma :OA

So as the title says what are some tips you van give someone that likes to create big battles in the editor?

My specs i5 4690k. GPU Geforce gtx 970 reference model

8 gigs of ram

Now i also jave another question, of what of those specs would i upgrade to increase how many units i have on the map fighting each other?

Thank you to who ever takes the time to answer.

Spawn units on a headless client, cache units with scripts like zbe_chache/dac/eos/... or use ALiVE.

This will only increase your fps, if it can chache units outside your draw distance. If you have a huge battle going on, u will be left with low fps. Nothing you can do about it.

Have you looked into the ALiVe Mod. Its outstanding for both CQB placement and general AI spawning. It has many many variables to adjust amount and intensity of enemy plus it has reinforcements, ied's, tasks and logistics.

ALive is good. spawn ai dynamically as you need them via scripts and triggers.

I wouldn't recommend upgrading your machine just to have more AI; in the end, Arma isn't made for large scale battles.

One can only emulate that with ambiant sounds or non-persistent battles around the player(s) (I remember there was such a module on Arma2), or be clever about it and cache most of the action (like Alive does).
