Hey, nice plane man it handles pretty good I think , but i still have some thinks you could work on, ( no I'm not going to mention all those things the other guys said ) The 3d model has some things on it that the real f14 doesn't have, like those feul tanks on the wings and that strange looking thing on the bottom, check this pic to see what I am talking about "http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/f-14-3b.jpg"

Keep up the good work

A backseater could be fully functional, the OV-10 has one.

i know but the ov-10 has the back seat as a gunner the RIO (Radar Intercept Officer) in the F-14 doesnt fire the weapons he operates the radar,ECM, and the other countermeasure systems (tell me if i'm wrong lol :-Å¢) but before going to off topic.

It flys well with the joystick but still rolls a little quick but its all good wink.gif

I find the roll rate just right, but can new weapons be used? I think it should carry 2 AIM-9's and 4 AIM-54 Phoenixes

you cant mix detachable weapon loads, you can have ffar pods and missiles/bombs but not two kinds of missiles/bombs on one plane

But then one Tomcat would have complete air superiority against every single airborne target in the entire island chain tounge.gif

point being? tounge.gif

just kiddin, but then we can have a Flanker or Fulcrum with R-33's to make up for it

You could call them AIM-54's but really the AA missiles in Flashpoint can't be made any better...game engine limitation...their guidance system against fast moving aircraft sucks. They're perfect for Vietnam-era aircraft though....The guidance systems on the early Sidewinders, Sparrows, and the Russian K-13 were roughly the same as what you get in Flashpoint against Jet aircraft.

*hint**hint* someone go make an F-4, F-104, MiG-21 (being worked on finally) and a MiG-17! smile.gif

the performance really doesn't have to be better, just to add realism to the game, i'd rather see phoenixes on it

Where's the realism in a Phoenix with a hit percentage of roughly 30% on anything moving above 200km/h? confused.gif

*edit*

Thought about that for a second. I see your point.Aesthetically, I guess it would be nice as eye candy even if it's not practical and it gives someone the impression that the AIM-54 couldn't hit a flying elephant if it came across one smile.gif. It's a shame that OFP isn't "the perfect simulation". sad.gif. Oh well, perhaps OFP2. smile.gif

Well i just place the f14 with the setpos commands then use the set velocity on this setvelocity [0,150,0] and use a radio alpha to trigger it then i used another this setvelocity [0,500,0] to kinda simulate turning on burners not i launched the f14 from the lsd doimng that :PP

I like it,...especially considering it is a beta, and will surely be improved.

I cant get AI to use the missles on ANY of the other addon jets against other jets. Is there a way to get them to do this?

I tried increasing the "max lead spead", but it didnt seem to work

The AI use missiles, believe me, the problem is they miss very often and the missiles themselves are not easy to see. Try one of the following:

- Go up against them in a chopper

- Stay on the runway, or start taking off as they get close

- Stall your plane before they engage - if you're slow, the missiles are almost guaranteed to hit.

I think the AI should be better at the best and worse at the worst(really good for BHD missions)

I know they fire missles at choppers, and slow movers.

I asked how to get them to engage other jets.

they will follow behind another jet, firing their machine guns, but they RARELY, (if at all) fire missles (which they should do at a greater range than when they go hot with guns)

Ground units will fire missles at jets. (DKM's M109 ADATS for example)

How do you get air units to use them in the same way?

I know this doesn't really involve anything...

but -

If you go into the mission editor, place yourself as a soldier on the runway... then have a plane heading towards you with "flyinheight 10" it flys really low in 1.85 (didn't work with planes in 1.75). If you wanted to make an airshow mission this would be a good plane to do it with smile.gif

They do use them smile.gif. Problem is they nearly always miss at high speeds, and you hardly ever see the missile.

I've seen a lot of flight game's, in which I found that fuel is as important as Payload's if not more. Realisticaly, fuel availibility and use adds a dimension of stress and concen. When flying the F16 thunderbird at stage 4 afterburner, a full tank of fuel is used up in about 6 minutes. Adding three drop tanks would probably give about another 6 minutes of flight time. Whereas flying at 75 - 85% throttle will give about 24 -28 min of flight time.

First of all, the F14 tomcat is an excellent addon for Flashpoint, however I reckon the fuel lasts far too long. Decreasing the air time would not only increase the addon's realism but also adding more flight management stress and excitment.

it would be really really cool if BIS implemented a tanker and mid air refueling into the game... that, real fuel supply and consumption would make one hell of a mission
