wildcatbridge 377 Posted December 6, 2015 When you say vests, are you saying we might be getting the early attempts at body Armour that people tried back then?
bullsh 22 Posted December 6, 2015 When you say vests, are you saying we might be getting the early attempts at body Armour that people tried back then? With vests he probably means ammo pouches and flasks and the likes, but man that's a really cool idea. It'd be great to have those metal cuirasses in-game haha

When you say vests, are you saying we might be getting the early attempts at body Armour that people tried back then? I will be making heavy steel body armor on the German side including the head piece that fits on their helmet.
wildcatbridge 377 Posted December 6, 2015 You guy's never cease to impress me with the level of detail your going to on this Mod :D it's beautiful, keep it up!
wildcatbridge 377 Posted December 6, 2015 Just while I remember the french also did experiments with body armor in 1916. I don't know how well known that is, but i mean it could help to balance out the different sides. Also i get that you guys are working extremely hard so like i'm not here to add extra work. Just more of an interest point. This is about the only image that you can find of the french versions. It's taken just after fire testing. And if you look at the helmets you can see the two on the left and right are designed to be angled down over the face. Anyway like I said not here to add extra work, just thought you would be interested by it :)

Anyway like I said not here to add extra work, just thought you would be interested by it :) Well, I tried to do some research on this but did not get a lot wiser on the French armor, I did ask my historian friend however I will let you know when he replies. Other than that I found this and I will quote: Copying and physically looting enemy equipment has always been a feature of warfare so It's no great surprise to see the 'wrong side' using specialist equipment. So, this will be a thing 100% sure
hellceaser 99 Posted December 6, 2015 Here is a quote from our Historian friend. They both experimented with the idea to some extent. The most common pictures are of metal medieval-like armor worn by or captured from the Germans, but everyone tested it. It really had no effect though save for shrapnel. wildcatbridge 377 Posted December 6, 2015 That explains why only guy's in static locations like sentries and fixed gunners wore them. No point slowing yourself down if its not gonna make any difference. Thanks for getting back to us with that one :)
