Mister Frag 0 Posted October 3, 2002 From http://www.cnn.com/2002....ex.html Candidate turned himself blue 'I tell them I'm practicing for Halloween' Wednesday, October 2, 2002 Posted: 11:48 PM EDT (0348 GMT) Jones' skin condition is permanent, but generally is not serious. GREAT FALLS, Montana (AP) -- Montana's Libertarian candidate for Senate has turned blue from drinking a silver solution that he believed would protect him from disease. Stan Jones,a 63-year-old business consultant and part-time college instructor, said he started taking colloidal silver in 1999 for fear that Y2K disruptions might lead to a shortage of antibiotics. He made his own concoction by electrically charging a couple of silver wires in a glass of water. His skin began turning blue-gray a year ago. "People ask me if it's permanent and if I'm dead," he said. "I tell them I'm practicing for Halloween." He does not take the supplement any longer, but the skin condition, called argyria, is permanent. The condition is generally not serious. Colloidal silver dietary supplements are marketed widely as an anti-bacterial agent or immune-system booster, but some consider it quackery. Jones is one of three candidates seeking to unseat Democratic Sen. Max Baucus in November. The others are Republican state Sen. Mike Taylor and Green Party candidate Bob Kelleher. Warin 0 Posted October 3, 2002 I can see it now: Smurf elected to Senate! Nice to see that even crackpots run for office these days. Anyone who fell prey to the Y2K hype has to have a few screws loose. I bet this guy also has several generatores and a decades worth of dried and canned food in his basement! Mister Frag 0 Posted October 3, 2002 I'm not sure what is more disturbing: the fact that this guy might pass laws, or the fact that he teaches in college.

pathfinder 0 Posted October 3, 2002 He must've chugged CS because it takes alot to do that. This is where supposedly the term blue bloods came from. In the days of old, eating and drinking from silver goblets and plates caused the rich people's skin to turn blue. Some people swear by CS (colloidal silver) to keep them healthy. I have a neighbor who's family uses it. Yes I tried a little to, but by the teaspoon. Didn't notice any difference as I'm normally healthy as a horse.....at least until you get a kid near me ,they seem to be the modern day disease carrying rats. It's to much work for me to think about it ,as CS has to many things you got to worry about. Like keeping it out of sunlight away from electromagnetic disturbances and such. MrMilli 0 Posted October 4, 2002 so, not only did he decide to start drinking silver (not the brightest thing to do if you know what it does to your blood vessels) not only did he start drinking silver because he thought that Y2K might turn off more than a light bulb somewhere he started making his own! Newsflash I Have in my possession a Rock, this rock is magical and keeps away disease. Hey, look I've never caught anything serious so it must be working. Cheques to the usual address for those seeking the rock. Think of the position of power that this man might attain! PLEASE, IF ANY READERS COME FROM MONTANA, DON'T VOTE FOR HIM!! PitViper 0 Posted October 4, 2002 BTW, you guys arent reading the article too well. He was afraid that if something happened at Y2K, the hospitals would run out of antibiotics which he needs to treat his skin condition.
MrMilli 0 Posted October 4, 2002 No, the skin condition came after he started taking it. to quote "he started taking colloidal silver in 1999" "His skin began turning blue-gray a year ago." (article published 2002) His fear was that there would be no anti-biotics, so he better not get sick, and started taking this crap.

This is where supposedly the term blue bloods came from. In the days of old, eating and drinking from silver goblets and plates caused the rich people's skin to turn blue.<span id='postcolor'> Hmmmz, did you just make that up? The reason why the rich people were called blue bloods is because back then all the poor people had to work on the land. Obviously they had a dark skin because they always worked outside in the sun. The rich ppl did not work, so basically they stayed inside whole the time. Because they never went outside their skin looked very very white. If you look at a very white person you will see that their veins are really easy to see. Veins are blue, that's why they were called the blue bloods by the poor ppl. If you look at movies that are about stories that happened a long time ago you will see that the rich have a very pale skin. Perhaps the 'silver' thing has something to do with it too but i doubt it, after all, like someone else already said: This doesn't happen to everyone, not everyone turns blue when drinking out of silver stuff for a while. Oh well, just thought it would be interesting to post this, at least i've posted a non spam post today
