Hello everyone!

Being myself a big player and modder on ArmA, I awalys want to know how Bohemia works from the inside and also learn more about Arma 3 developers!

So, recently we have contacted Lord of Bounce... I mean Pettka (Petr Kolář), an encoding lead on Arma 3, to give us his secrets about Bohemia, his work, the Marksman DLC and the inbouncing Expension.

Click on the following links to read the full interview on ArmA France:

I would thanks one more time Pettka and Bohemia Interactive for allowing us to make this interview! (Thanks also to Mitrail from ArmA France for the whole translation in French!)

Feel free to give your opinions and comments here!

See you soonâ„¢!

Interesting interview; much appreciate the time you and Pettka spent on this.

Interesting that the English-language version confirms that the Expansion would (presumably for how Steam handles it) purposes be a DLC -- though BI previously confirmed that it was not standalone -- but "features are free, content is paid" again? Nice...

Thanks for the interview.

So, we now have a big news about the expansion: not sure this year, maybe 2016...

It concerns me that he won't commit to the existence of a campaign in the Expansion...

Well, he sais there WILL BE a campaign in the expansion, just didn't tell anything about it.

Where do you see that? I only see this, where he WILL NOT commit to campaign:

AF: Will we have a new campaign? With any continuation of the story from Arma 3?

PK: We are not ready to reveal our plans for the Expansion’s playable content yet. Our mission makers are working hard on several prototypes and systems that may possibly be used. Some of these systems/prototypes are already part of the End Game mode for the Marksmen DLC, but in the end their implementation for the Expansion may still be quite different.

Well, Pettka just says "We are not ready to reveal our plans for the Expansion’s playable content yet." I don't see where Pettka say "There will not be another campaign".

I think it is too early for Bohemia to begins a campaign, the new terrain have just started a few months ago and their priority for now is the Marksman DLC so...

Other stuff besides the terrain has been worked on, it's already been mentioned by DnA that at least one asset slated for Marksmen was moved to Expansion.

Right. Because he didn't say that, and nobody is saying he did. He also isn't saying that there will definitely be a campaign. He was asked a direct question by the interviewer and deferred. Not looking good from my perspective.

Regardless of whether or not work has started on a campaign, you'd think that BI would have decided if they are going to make a campaign (or not) for the Expansion by this time. Perhaps it's too early for such a decision. There better be a campaign, or it will be no sale for me.

The most likely answer right here, considering other aspects of Arma 3 development (i.e. starting over with the base game campaign four times)...

There is nothing hidden in the answer - we have certain plans and we are evaluating the possibilities with some concepts. But we are not yet ready to speak about the plans in open as we would rather not promise anything we are not able to deliver in good enough quality :icon_twisted: As soon as we know what is possible to deliver, we will make a public statement about that.

... which basically means that you're not confirming that there would be a campaign at all in Expansion.

Pettka isn't confirming or denying. "As soon as we know what is possible to deliver, we will make a public statement about that" seems pretty clear to me; doesn't rule in a campaign, nor does it rule it out. Anthariel got the point IMHO.

I too hope there will be a campaign; we just have to wait & see. I think repeatedly hassling devs for answers they've said they are not ready to give will be counter-productive; why would another want to give an interview if that's a likely outcome?

"Hassling devs"? :D WTF. Even if pettka was being "hassled :581:," which he is not, he's a big boy and can handle it. Especially as he was the sole Encoder for BAF, one of the best Arma DLC ever. I sure wish he had been the Encoder for ACR. :(

At that point he was probably hard at work on Arma 3 instead.
