Oh, has ever anyone been to Malta. It might be that I end up working there for a year or two. Please leave only positive comments or you will be responsible for me rejecting a job! biggrin.gif

Albert how dare you presume to hijack my thread. The nerve of it! biggrin.gif

My grandparents have been to malta, and they brought me back a paperweight with the maltese cross on it. My conclusion? If al lthey could bring me back was a paperweight with a maltese cross on it, the country cannot be very much fun whatsoever.

Warin, whats wrong with mixing champers and shagging? God gave us hands so that we could do things while reproducing. biggrin.gif Maximum efficiency!

*falls over laughing*

True enough!

So have a good time in America. Dont let any crazy red necks give you a hard time. Dont drive on the wrong side of the road either. They frown down on it!

Woah, you must be 21 to buy a bottle of booze?? In most parts of Spain you must be 16 to buy alcohol, and in my city (Madrid) you must be 18, because they changed the law this summer. Luckily my birthday was the first of october, so i can buy as much booze as i want biggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

When I went on a school holiday to spain (was about 14 or 15) the hotel we stayed in had a beer machine. After a while the teachers found out and our beer supply got cut off sad.gif

You can drink beer and wine at the age of 16 in most European countries, and the good stuff at 18 smile.gif

Booze=the roxor wink.gif

booze=icon14.gif

If you don't allow a man to drink booze, you have serious issues smile.gif

If anyone of you is into whiskey, try Bells, some proper stuff that's been in the barrel for 8 years smile.gif Gotta love the scotts for making proper booze smile.gif

Yes, I am a bit intoxicated, had 1/3 of a bottle so far and going strong smile.gif

Bells is my favourite, it goes down so smooth and is lubbly jubbly. Compared to Jack Daniels, which to me tastes like paint stripper.

Jack Daniels tastes like cats piss smile.gif

Apparently, Johnny Walker Black Label is meant to be good, but I cant seem to find it anywhere sad.gif

Do you know of any other good whiskeys, 8 years or older?

Yeah, i bought my beer from machines when i was 13-14. It sucked though because they were expensive as hell!! Now you can't, because in my city alcohol vending machines are forbidden.

Yeah, I went there for a week this summer, so my memories are still quite fresh. The beer sucks, the sun + dryness messes up your hair and I got a patchy tan (probably my fault as I have never tried to tan before) oh and I saw the biggest insect I have EVER seen. I think it was a locust or a praying mantis or something along those lines, it landed about a foot from me on my sun lounger. They speak some weirdass jewish language but also have english as an official language and everything is in both english and maltese and quite a lot of german too, with all the tourists. The weirdest thing is that they have the same traffic lights, phone boxes and post boxes as in Britain, it's weird walking down a street lined with palm trees and then you see a big red post box biggrin.gif Also there are a lot of young/teenage mothers, but this may be a catholic thing. There is an internet cafe every 10 feet. All of the buses that the public transport system uses were made in the 1930s and most of the cars people drive are from the 80s

However, the locals are rather attractive

There isn't much of a nightlife either, just some street cafes and bars and such....it really depends on which town you go to though

If you want to know anything else I will try to help smile.gif

I'm thinking about a trip to Malta,

The big question though, is it expensive (in a tourist trap kind of way)

Ya gotta bear in mind here my other choice is the Far East like Hong Kong (Windows XP complete with Office and all the gubbins, Two pounds fifty sah.) or Singapore (well, its cheaper than everywhere except Hong Kong)

While we were on brands, has anyone here tried 'Stolichnaya' (sp) Vodka? It's some of the cheapest Russian Vodka that I have found and it smells like my mom's nail polish remover. The taste is no better, I can assure you. smile.gif

So what brand of beer are you guys loyal too?

I prefer a Moosehead myself, goes down smooth and I can drink alot of them before getting sick.

you are talking about cheap russian wodka. So let me tell you this, any cheap wodka in russia is better than the expensive one. You always take the risk to get a copy of the original and those have made some german tourists pretty blind. Better stick to the cheap russian originals.

I met alcoholics from Tennessee that wouldn't touch that stuff, so there ya go.

The beer I'm loyal to comes from a brew pub here and is only sold there. They have 3 or 4 beers that they make, a stout, a porter, a scotch ale, and now I'm into their rouse beer. I'm there maybe 4 days and nights a week, for about 15-20 pints a beer a week. They make a good India Pale Ale, as well as honey beers, nut beer, a cream ale, and a extra blonde (a very dumb beer.)

Great, so you can own a gun, get married, have sex, buy hard core pornography, join the military, but you can't have drink!?

Crazy!

As for Vodka, I'd kil for for genuine Russian brands.

I only stick to Smirnoff, or Absolut in the UK, but its still not that smooth.....

Mmmm, Communist Vodka......

Ha, Jack Daniels is a sodding bourbon. If you want a real Whiskey, try a Scottish single malt. Pure, unmixed goodness....

Buy hard core ponography? I think the age of the internet has globalised the issue!

But smirnov? that is what I meant! If you ever plan to buy smirnov in poland or russia then better watch out, rather stick to the local brands and you know what you get. As I said, many tourist got blind from trusting a SMIRNOV label!
