A civil war is when two factions in one country battle the other for something. It dosnt matter wither they want independence or the right to wear fluffy bunny slippers.

Englad was a foreign power. The only time the American Revolution could be called a war is if the war took place between too wholly American factions.

Exactly. <span id='postcolor'>

Maybe it started out as a war, but it finsihed as a civil war. At the beggining maybe the south only had interest in breaking away and forming its own nation, but at the end it became a war for the nation, therefor a civil war over who controlled the country.

You honestly believe that if the War for Southern Independence had been won by the South that there still would be slaves?! I hate the fact of slavery, but the North was just as bad. It was a war between two different countries The CSA and the US. Anyways this might be one of those threads that would be better of closed.
