13islucky 10 Posted October 18, 2014 So apparently there's this Polish indie top-down shooter where you play as a depressed long-haired trench coat-wearing guy who goes on a rampage in a small town because he hates people. In what may be related news, the CEO of the company is a neo-nazi. Not posting the trailer 'cause it's edgy, so: My name is not important. What is important is what I'm going to do. I just fucking hate this world and the human worms feasting on it's carcass. My whole like is just cold bitter hatred, and I always wanted to die violently. This is the time for vengeance, and no life is worth saving. And I will put as many in the grave as I can. It's time for me to kill, and it's time for me to die. *Cue shooting, screaming stabbing and executing civvies and cops, genuinely disturbing stuff.* I mean I don't know, it's probably not something I'll play, though the game has a shock value, especially in today's world where mass murders are, at least, more frequently reported on (not to mention far more sensationalized) as information travels faster than ever before. No doubt it'll get peoples attention both supportive and indignant. I don't have a problem with hyperviolence. It can be stylized, dramatic, consequential or even funny; this game though... Free advertising all over the internet. Just ignore it. Fair enough, I suppose there are other things that deserve talking about over this. My biggest issue with it is choice. You CHOSE to kill civvies in GTA or in Postal, the game never demanded you to. If you decided to go crazy, it was your choice. Hell, I tried to minimize civilian casualties in those games, but eventually I'd just get frustrated and rampage. I chose to do so, and so I had to deal with the consequences (eg. cops trying to kill you or whatever). This game removes that choice and turns it in to the whole crux of the game, which... kinda feels wrong I guess? I don't know. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
vilas 477 Posted October 18, 2014 (edited) many people i knew who loved GTA (not all) were lads/hooligans from my neigborhood who loved to drive over pedestrians and cops in GTA (subculture called in Poland "dresy" - "sport wear" cause hooligans and criminals in Eastern Europe wear Adidas/Reebok/Nike clothes and listen to techno/dance/disco) this summer in Poland we even had a guy who wanted to play GTA in real life and he drove over 20 people in city Sopot , where guy start to behave like in GTA making 22 (twenty two) people wounded or seriously wounded (so far he is probably in mad house), it was in July 2014, guy wanted to be like GTA (so far there are problems to put him to jail cause he is told to be son of judge ) Edited October 18, 2014 by vilas Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

djotacon 190 Posted October 19, 2014 I do not understand this controversy by a genre film series b led to a video game. There are thousands of movies with the same plot in the genre of horror films and no one ripping their clothes. As the game is quite simple and that genre is practically dedicated to downloadable games (1gb or minus). I guess the game's creator wants to make something "new" but the game itself is a clone.
