J. Rainey 19 Posted September 9, 2014 So, I downloaded the Arma 3 Tools from Steam, I finished making my 3 models (LOD, Shadow, and Collision) and whenever I export them as .obj's and import them into Object Builder, they are upside down, my barrel is outside the rest of the stuff, etc. If you need any pictures or anything I can provide those. PenguinInATuxedo 18 Posted September 10, 2014 Yes, it is VERY useful for Blender. Alwarren is a hero. That link appears to be for version 1.1 here is the link for the BIS forum post with download for 1.
J. Rainey 19 Posted September 10, 2014 Thanks, guys. I'll give it a try and see if it works.
J. Rainey 19 Posted September 10, 2014 Alright, so after I downloaded it I tried to install it into Blender, but it kept having some error. Should I try to get the latest version of Blender or is that not the problem?
PuFu 4600 Posted September 10, 2014 (edited) although i am not a blender user, i would say blender exporter (in this case .obj) doesn't "collapse" (for the lack of a better term) the transforms. Or it has an option someplace. best bet is to do it manually or simply search for such an issue. I am sure it is not related to blender>object builder in the case of obj export. Also, regarding orientation. Some software are using Z axis up, some Y axis up. Some allow you to edit this in your preferences (ie: maya), some don't. Most exporters for the software that i use daily have that as an option. But this shouldn't have anything to do with parts of your model being translated on one or more axis. http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Extensions:2.6/Py/Scripts/Import-Export/Wavefront_OBJ BTW, it is advisable to use the latest version of your favorite software. I doubt this is a version issue, but obviously it is worth a try Edited September 10, 2014 by PuFu

Alwarren 2767 Posted September 11, 2014 Alright, so after I downloaded it I tried to install it into Blender, but it kept having some error. Should I try to get the latest version of Blender or is that not the problem? Can you specify what error you are getting? You can also check the system console (in the Window menu) for information. J. Rainey 19 Posted September 11, 2014 I did check the Window Menu which is where I saw the error, but I'll get it for you.
J. Rainey 19 Posted September 11, 2014 Okay, here it is. It was to long and confusing to type, so attached to this post is a picture of the console. http://imgur.com/7f4LaqR
Alwarren 2767 Posted September 12, 2014 Okay, here it is. It was to long and confusing to type, so attached to this post is a picture of the console.http://imgur.com/7f4LaqR Woa, no bmesh? You have an ancient version of Blender then, you need to update :) BMesh has been in Blender since, I think, 2.63. The current version is 2.71.
J. Rainey 19 Posted September 12, 2014 See I knew it was an update issue. The reason I never got the newer/est version is because someone said it was buggy when I installed it. I'll go update and see if it works.
