Permissions

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm creating at the moment a multiplayer deathmatch mission and I like to use some mods for that. Can I use mods in a public modpack, when I give the credits to the creators or do I have to ask every single modder for permission?

(I'm german, so please don't hate me for grammatical errors)

Thanks,

Tobi

Hi, Build the mission with credits given to the mod makers.

Only time you need permission from a modder to use their mod is when

1. you either include it in your mod, or

2. are going to change something in it and re release it.

If you decide to submit to armaholic then what they will do is link those mods required for the mission, i would suggest doing that and not create a modpack as an

optional download that you host or have hosted, with that you may need to get permissions, I'm not 100% sure on that one, easiest would to just submit,

and link what mods are required less headache :)

hope that helps.

Carefully check if a mod has been released under a specific license.

For instance, "Share Alike" licenses allow you to re-distribute at several conditions (Give credits to the authors, don't make money of it, and your mod must be released under the same rules.).

He is correct. Also a place to mostly give credit is the "diary record descriptions"
