dr@gon 118 Posted May 27, 2014 My game started crashing recently too (within the last week). I will play anywhere from 1 - 30 minutes then it crashes. I run with lots of mods but it was never a problem before. I removed all but what I consider to be essential mods but I am still having the problem. What I would really like to know is how do you read the rpt file to make sense out of it. I am sure it is a mod problem but which one? Mostly when afk for a short time, while pausing the game or in the map view :( I tried to set my fan to 100% and I'm playing without any mods but up to now I found nothing helpful..... flyinpenguin 30 Posted May 27, 2014 Hello all, I have been hard at work trying to fix this issue. You will probably find that updating CBA does not work, it has nothing to do with temperature, and mods do not matter. First of all, the first possible fix could be really simple. Try running as administrator if you are not already. Second is this post I have in another thread A lot of people have been plagued by this issue. I am currently trying to get a solution and I believe I will have one soon. At the moment, I believe what is happening is that Arma is trying to use memory outside of allotted space. So, to try and fix this, try adding some launch options for Arma in steam. If you have at least 4gb of RAM, put -maxMem=2047 And if you have a graphics card with at least 2gb, put -maxVRAM=2047 If you only have 1gb of graphics card memory, try lowering it to 1023. You cannot put in values more than 2047 though. Let me know if this fixes the issue! As the quote says, let me know if this fixes the issue as it means I know exactly why this is happening! Slight increases in ambient temperature (summer time) can result in showing underlying hardware/overclocking issues if you were already stressing the same computer and it worked 'fine' during the winter. If any of you guys still are crashing with this fix, try using -malloc=tcmalloc_bi or -malloc=nedmalloc_bi. If all else fails, you can use -malloc=system but I found this one to only give me about 20 frames where I normally get 60-70. Anyways, glad its working dr@gon! hopefully it works for others as well! Since it's summer time in the northern hemisphere it's not uncommon that PC starts to crash due to increase ambient temperature, ie some PC component like CPU/GPU/RAM may be overheating. Arma 3 only uses so much of the RAM (max) no matter how much you have. Each stick of RAM is rated at a certain clock speed (which is why they all need to match) but it doesn't run at exactly that speed, there is actually a manufacturing fault tolerance level and each stick of RAM will run at 1000 millisecond (I don't recall the exact speeds) slower or faster then the next stick. That should not cause any problems unless you are very unlucky and you won the RAM lottery and one stick is running at maximum speed and the next is running at the minimum speed within its fault range. It is possible that your RAM clock speed is between different Sticks are at the extreme ends of the fault tolerance and you may experience issues. However, this is extremely unlikely particularly with the newer motherboards running RAM in pairs rather then using them sequentially. If it does happen that you use enough RAM that a discrepancy in the RAM speed is noticed, the whole PC crashes to Blue Screen not just the game. Cpu brand 2.) mem amount 3.) graphics brand and series 4.) operating system This is to see if it is a hardware issue. An example of what I need will be the following (this is my system) Example: 1.) Intel 2.) 12gb 3.) Nvidia 700 series 4.) Win8.1 I think I have narrowed it down even further. askomiko 10 Posted May 30, 2014 Since latest patches I've gotten maybe 5 min of play, max. I'm trying they Zeus mode and it crashes after 2-5 minutes, now 8 times in a row. And my friend's internet dies when he starts Arma3. No connection to anything, does not find servers, internet pages won't load. ...And just as I was thinking that maybe new Arma is somewhat stable. They changed how backpacks are defined for some reason, that broke all backpacks, these memory allocators seem to be broken, gamespy is shutting down which hosted their port work around, so now thats down, yeah. Did I also mention their HDR is broken and shadows are as well? Anyways, enough about the faults.
