arggghhh 0 Posted July 16, 2002 Ive just got to get this off my chest and say that the resistance addon for OFP is total garbage. It has ruined the performance of the original game and introduced more bugs that make the game almost unplayable. My computer is an AMD Athlon 133mhz,512mbDDR system ram,128mb GF4TI4400 with latest drivers etc,(all other major new games run fine and smooth on it)yet when I turn down the settings on resistance to what I think would be the original OFPv1.46 settings(because high detail settings crash the game) to make the game run smoother it still runs like crap, constantly accessing the hard disk and causing pauses in the action. It seems to me that BIS have screwed up big time by tampering with the game engine.Whats the point in having better graphics options if you need a computer that has not even been invented yet to run it as its supposed to be run.I uninstalled resistance and played flashpointv1.46,everything run smooth as silk,no constant disk activity, the game was back to normal.I wish BIS had not messed with the game engine,it looked good enough to me as it was and im sure everybody would rather have playability over eye candy. One more thing I did notice that I dont think anyone has mentioned in the many bugs that resistance has is the constant bouncing of vehicles when you get in them as a driver, not just tanks but all vehicles will now bounce up and down on the spot when stationary on flat ground making driving a pain. The external third person view model of the new FN FAL rifle is unfinished(no front sight, vent slots in side of handguard missing)that makes you think that this addon was rushed out.A major patch is now needed, but I feel even that may not be enough since theyve screwed with the engine.I hope the original OFP will still be supported now that the resistance shambles has been thrust upon us. Hybrid 0 Posted July 16, 2002 Well i dont have any of those problems and my comp is less powerful than yours. I dont get the bouncing or anything. It runs smoothly.
kegetys 2 Posted July 16, 2002 Well, to me OFP-R seems to run better than original OFP, if I set the terrain detail to "very low" and tune the view distance down to 500 meters or so, which are about the original default OFP settings... Btw. you should learn to do paragraph in your texts, that wall of text is a pain to read.

jepuskar 1 Posted July 16, 2002 Your post is very unconstructive and likely to be ignored by anyone of importance in BIS. Why don't you follow the forum rules when posting bugs and maybe this can help BIS solve any problems you might have. Your frustration does not help anyone solve your problem, it just makes them disrespect your posts and ignore them.
ixnay 1 Posted July 16, 2002 Somebody call the Wah-mbulance. Geez... If you don't have any "constructive criticism" to add (see sticky thread), just hush. BIS did an excellent job with the time they were alotted. Patches will still be forthcoming. Also see the "tuning tips" sticky thread as it might help you with getting resistance to run nicely. I have virtually the same hardware as you. I used the helpful hints in that thread and am running resistance nicely. A developer that scales their game for a computer you don't have yet is correctly thinking. What incentive do you have to upgrade later if all your games run 200fps at max res and color depth? I for one, enjoy the tab slider "drop my system to its knees" setting far to the right And if you can't stand it that much.... Take your receipt. Go back to the store. Return the product. Get your money back. Don't be a Paco. .:iXnay
jepuskar 1 Posted July 16, 2002 I think he means 133Mhz bus. Regardless, it could never ever be the users computer that is to blame. It must be the software..always the software. When I work on computers I go by a little saying..."99.9% user error!!" Most of the time its my fault something is not working right!
jepuskar 1 Posted July 16, 2002 'Dont be a Paco'....lolololol I remember that guy from a while back....
jepuskar 1 Posted July 16, 2002 Ohh yeah..1 more thang.. I have a Intel 386, 1MB RAM, 100MB Hard drive, Voodoo -.004 w/256KB mem, and a 10" black/white monitor. Resistance works just fine for me. I average about 60fps with no studdering or any problems..EVER!! I use my 2800 baud modem for online play with no lag..even with 63 other people in the room. bn880 5 Posted July 16, 2002 arggghhh, instead of being so angry and giving up already, I suggest you look around to see if anyone has resolved the problems you are having. Who knows, maybe there are things you can do to get Resistance running properly, and you will be able to enjoy it and be happy. If you can not find any good answers from the people on this forum, you will be instruced by someone on how to get BIS to look at your problems. PS: next time check the forum for answers before writing one of these
arggghhh 0 Posted July 16, 2002 Why is there no icons of flames.I meant 133gig processor. [new paragraph for Kegetys] Seriously though,I would like more feedback on the bouncing vehicles thing.Has this happened to anyone else.Jeep is just sat there motionless on flat piece of road, you get in as driver and the jeep starts to shake and jump up and down, even when you dont start driving. Cheers.

ralphwiggum 6 Posted July 16, 2002 i read somewhere from this forum that he changes his SB driver and it solved...although I think that's a bit wierd, that's what I read. OFPR runs decent on my PC...750mhz, 384MB RAM, GF 2MX
USSoldier11B 0 Posted July 17, 2002 OFP:R runs fine on my system if I tone down the performance settings. I would like to get my hands on a kick ass system so I can see Resistance at it's full potential.
GreyKnight 0 Posted July 17, 2002 Wow Residuum, you mean you get into a machine gun and it turns into a bouncing jeep??? That's amazing! LOL
jawk2 1 Posted July 17, 2002 dont mock about him... maybe he dont know what is the bouncing bug: Well residium what you describe is a visor/ironside problem specific to the 50cal jeep. But when u fire with the gun the ironside stabilize (and again it ll fuck off). The real bouncing bug is when a vehicule goes high when hit .... very high; ie: i try to play the single player mission  Helitrain as training *maybe 6-8 time a week*, when the convoy is destroy i generally try to abuse this bug: i shot one rocket to the jeep it goes very high and i try to re-hit the jeep before it touch again the ground. Another example: one time in a MP map i was sniping near the ennemy camp covering from the bush my teammates: i see the "XXX has the flag" and an enormous Kaboum... the ennemy has satcheled the flag. Well 3 sec later i see an enormous shadow on me? "Wtf, there s no chopper" i thinked, and i died.I went back after respaw to find a UAZ there.... this bouncing car has done 100meter jump at a high near 50meter to me(guess the satcheled alot) *and i think i was the unlukyest man theese day*, all the both team stopped playing during some minutes when i say the incident to them * they just laugh theese bastard, and ask me why i got TK pulse * ---> i cant see no more bouncing bug in resistance, thks BIS for resolving this annoying very old bug *thought the sliding bug of tank in MPtest 1.50 was very funny in MP lol*
