enableSimulationGlobal not working?

Recommended Posts

Hey folks,

I was very happy when the enableSimulationGlobal command was introduced.

However, I tried it in the SP editor and it didn't seem to work.

I can only acess my dedi tomorrow, but I'd really like to fix the problem, so:

• I placed an unit (regular NATO rifleman)

• It's init line simply is: this enableSimulation false

Now when applying enableSimulationGlobal true to it, it seems as if the command has no effect.

Does it only work on a dedicated server?

Cheers

Why are you using different commands for that? Use global variant in both cases.

And yes this command is working.

When writing "this enableSimulationGlobal false" a unit's init line it's simulation will continue for me...?

Perhaps I'm oversimplifiying this, but given that it's a global command, its maybe designed to be used in a MP environment and is ignored in an SP one?

Enable or disable simulation for given entity, globally. Call this only from the server.

All what you have to know you found in the description of you linked wiki page.

Hm, I see. I always assumed, however, that when running an editor preview I "am" the server.

Thanks anyways.

Not in the single player editor. If you were in the MP editor, then you would be.

Doesn't matter if it's in an MP environment or not. This is inconsistent behaviour from other global commands which do work in singleplayer. As it stands, with enableSimulationGlobal and hideObjectGlobal not working in singleplayer, it's annoying for a mission designer trying to develop a scenario to work in both SP and MP situations.

It's only these 2 commands that don't work in SP, so I have opened a ticket: http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=18689
