MissionCreep 12 Posted November 10, 2013 Sorry if this is a repost ... I checked and didn't see anything related but nothing came up, but in v 1.04.111745 if you walk up to a flaming vehicle and stand in the flames, you will suffer injuries (red edges to screen and make i-just-touched-somthing-hot noises) and if you keep doing it, you will eventually die. I know that you used to be immune to flames in Arma II. Seems to take a bit of effort to get seriously burned ... but I guess fire-retardent/fire resistant clothing of the future could be the reason. adanteh 58 Posted November 10, 2013 Its a feature. No one made posts about it because it works just like it should. (If vehicles should even catch on fire / explode is another topic)
Beagle 684 Posted November 10, 2013 And it was one of the first features that mande it into the various OFP total conversion mods...it took BIS only 10 years to make it default ;)
-Gews- 1 Posted November 10, 2013 It's a good feature, I like it. Would be cool to catch on fire in certain circumstances as well :p
paecmaker 23 Posted November 10, 2013 I dont get it, do you think its good or what?
dale0404 5 Posted November 10, 2013 Of course it is good.
MissionCreep 12 Posted November 10, 2013 (edited) I dont get it, do you think its good or what? Are you kidding? Besides adding realism, it has some tactical consequences. You can deny the enemy cover behind stationary vehicles or in structures by setting them alight with incendiary munitions. You can also create an obstacle to infantry, for example by parking a refueling truck to block a road and set it alight with an explosive charge or even gunfire. bonchie 39 Posted November 11, 2013 I was about to make a post about this. Twice today I died nearly instantly from standing too close to a campfire. While this effect works with the intense heat of burning vehicles, it's clearly bugged and unrealistic in relation to campfires. That needs to be fixed. squirrel0311 16 Posted November 11, 2013 Yeah....I think we've had fire damage since Alpha....Have we not? I seem to remember dying several times thanks to the deadly and elusive invisible flames... I'm not sure if the invisible part is still a problem but I hope they fixed it.
10t 12 Posted November 11, 2013 Yep, fire damage has been in since alpha (and I have very dull screenshots to prove it).
timmo1982 10 Posted November 11, 2013 Yeah but you can't even roast marshmallows on the fire, what the heck BIS? Call this a simulator?! Of course this will be left to mods when it should just be in the game....:o I refuse to play this game until this feature is implemented !!11!!1!!

I like it, it was just that the thread start sounded negative(like it was a bug) at first but ended with a positive feeling.
bonchie 39 Posted November 13, 2013 Was just playing Co-op and our team lead got to close to a completely dormant downed chopper that was no longer on fire. Instant death. Dying like that and dying from getting to close to campfires puts a damper on this feature for me. They need to tweak it and fix some of the oddities it can produce.
